When your key allies start questioning your leadership then you know the cracks are showing further.

Thoughts?

the only struggle going on at the moment is the one the old press are having with massive loss of advertising revenue and dwindling sales/subscription income.

Do you think your response is typical. Will most Conservatives turn on the Times and Murdoch, and side with the Tories?

Newspapers have been losing revenue for years. Why now? The usual suspects aren't even attacking the EU. It might just be, and it's a long shot, that Boris has been found out for charlatan he really is..

I think most people recognise there has been a steady decline in the way old media is consumed.

My response is a combination of the above statement and my understanding/reading around the dramatic effect the current situation has had on the advertising income stream the legacy media has been relying upon to support the falling subscription/sales revenue.

My comment was more about the economics than the politics.

Far be it from to say what a Conservative would do in response to the Sunday Times article

Very good point. No matter how much the Boris fanboys try to dismiss the story they all know it is very very bad news for the government, somebody very significant will be made the scape goat by the real leader , Cummings

Im sure they thought they were on to gold (literally) and a good opportunity to weaken him (murdoch wants Gove, Barclay brothers want Boris) .... and all of this while he’s laid up recuperating from being at the brink of death (tongue in cheek aside ), problem is they didn’t do it very well ! The pot of gold and the weakening - They have faced far more backlash than they expected - and not just from the Tory commentators.

There’s a far more explosive story brewing (if it’s found to be true) which will no doubt be hammered on here in the next few days

To most people the only success that counts is winning an election . It is the result on the day that counts , what happens before or after is probably irrelevant . If you read the biography of Boris you will find that he is a non stop success story. How can anyone consider a party leader who wins an 80 seat majority to be a failure ?

New subscribers - don’t know . I didn’t pay for it

Lost subscribers - don’t know. As I don’t subscribe to either publications I don’t know if I would of cancelled and either saved the cash or put it into another subscription .

Slagging off core subscribers - that’s a decreasing income stream model anyway.

However as pointed out by someone else (which I’ve replied to above ) there is also the underlying strong possibility they saw a good opportunity to wound Boris

Boris will destroy Boris. He is perfectly capable of ballsing it all up, look at his history. It just beggars belief that anybody consider this bloke anything other than an utter con trick. A twatty hairstyle and a few funny phrases in Latin, that's it. You wouldn't let him run a company let alone the country. In years to come, it will be marvelled at that this guy got to where he is.
