We wish him speedy recovery but we had more important things to do than clapping for Boris.

"I could distinctly hear clapping in my village last night. "

Last night was the official the Identify a Tory in your area event.

I heard that in some places you're never further than 6ft away from a Tory.

There was absolutely nothing in my area, I wish him well but he doesn’t deserve applause from the nation.

Before this crisis, the last public clapping Johnson did was in response to successfully blocking NHS pay rises for the same people he was applauding last week.

So, no, I wasn't clapping for fucking Boris.

No, there aren't. No it didn't. The Tories got 43.6% of votes cast.

Lots of people clap for those who are keeping Boris alive. That should be enough.

The fact he's ill with Covid 19 proves he isn't a special case.

"Who clapped for him?

"

No. This was politics. A publicity stunt. Pretty objectionable when the party in power is demanding that people not use this crisis to score points.

News Thump summarises my position on this:

'“If you didn’t clap that means you want him to die” insist adults mistaking Boris for Tinkerbell

People who didn't clap for boris want him to die

If you didn’t applaud Boris Johnson last night then you’re basically a murderer, according to a worrying number of grown-ups today.

After a campaign to “clap for Boris Johnson” at 8pm on Tuesday night went “kind of OK” in some really, really posh neighbourhoods and few others, backers of the campaign took to social media to give everybody else a damn good telling off.

“If you don’t clap, he’ll die,” said Simon Williams, without so much as a hint of irony or satire.

“He’s a very sick man and you need to clap for him to make him better, no matter what you think of him. That’s how healing works.”

Sane person, Hayley Rice, said “Er, no.

“Let me make myself absolutely clear, I do not want Boris Johnson to die, I would much prefer him to get better, but whether or not I go outside to clap at an arbitrary hour has zero effect on that, because he’s not a fairy in a children’s story.

“He was two weeks late in putting us all into lockdown, which caused hundreds of additional deaths. If I’m two weeks late doing ANYTHING at work, I don’t get a round of applause for it – particularly if it kills someone.

“Then he went and shook hands with a bunch of people treating coronavirus patients in a typical show of bravado over common sense.

“That plus his past racism and attitude towards poor people in general means I just don’t want to stand up and applaud him. Sorry. I might go out and shout ‘You silly boy’ for a full minute.

“Again, just to be clear, THAT IS NOT THE SAME AS WANTING SOMEONE TO DIE.”

Simon Williams countered, “You want him to die? You should be ashamed of yourself.'

Edinburgh

Johnson is a psychopath - or at least a sociopath - who is unfit to sit in parliament, never mind lead the country. Bully, racist, abuser of women.

Tories have suddenly discovered the attraction of praising the NHS which they have de-funded in recent years and praising the nurses whose salary increase they voted down. Total scumbags.

But equally appalling were Blair, Brown and friends, who started the cult of the veterans - who came back from being sent into senseless wars with huge physical and psychological damage. Sent in to battle under-equipped and neglected on their return.

Do we really deserve the politicians we get?
