"Must admit to being a bit disappointed by this feature. I was hoping for something with more accuracy rather within 1 mile or what ever. Was hoping for something similar to other location plotting apps so you could see who was in your immediate location. Appreciate that there would be privacy issues for some but that is easily solved by turning it off. For example it Would have been great on night out to see anyone from the site was also out etc. instead this is something that everyone will leave on and not be that useful IMO" Maybe I'm just being dumb here, but how do you know that there ISN'T already an 'in your immediate location' option in the system, but you just don't have any matches that close at the time? Doesn't the system only show those who are close, sorted by closeness? (if that's a word..)

I think the point being made is that a mile radius circle covers a lot of ground, if say the lowest increment was 50/100 metres, then if someone was on a night out or holiday and was looking for a meet they could find someone in the same club/building. I think there should be a way for the user to set a comfortable distance to be "seen" from. That way those concerned with privacy can set it for a mile, those who just want to switch it on for a quick meet can choose to set it nearer. Perhaps a timer could be set so you can only be seen for an hour, two hours like the meet today settings, incase people forget to switch it off.

"I think a mile is close enough as if they wanted to meet they could message as they also can see who is close to them. So rather than having some one pester them it leaves the right to choose to the individual. " I just don't see the point of lnowing someone is a mile away from you. You may as well do a search for someone in your post code area on the normal site. If you don't want people to see where you are or are worried about someone finding where you are...simply don't enable the feature. But if want the excitement of someone approaching you when you are out for the night then "being within 1 mile" is a waste of time. Don't forget this is meant to something to help find like minded people when you are mobile. It't not something to leave on peanently. So I also think it should only show those who are logged at that time rather than everyone who has enabled the app but left the site.

Well wouldn't you just send those within a mile a message disclosing your location if you just wanted a fuck without chatting, that's not to much effort to get laid Is it

They want to meet people in said club/holiday park. Within one mile means they could be in the same place or they could be up to a mile away in any direction. There could be 20 or so matches that are "within a mile" so that means 20 messages need to be sent to see if anyone is close enough to meet. What they are asking is that people can be seen from a more accurate closer distance. Obviously this sort of thing should be an opt in thing. People could have the option to say allow people to find them as close as 20 yards, 100 yards, 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile or within a mile. It should have a time limit set able by the user (incase they forget to turn it off) as it would be definable by the user they are responsible for any privacy issues. It would only affect their profile, eg their profile can be seen by others at the shorter distances, but they could only see people at the default settings - unless other users have defined their own. Don't know if it is logistically possible for the site to do this, but it would make the app more usefull to some. As it is the app as it stands is just a more accurate search. It also needs to be set so it Only shows people who are actually online as ours seems to show people who have been offline for up to 20mins and only a few actually online, there maybe more online but we can't see as you only get about 20 results.

"We see 30 resilts per page and when in central london last sunday only a handful were listed as within a mile so dont think we missed anyone due to reason you suggest" At some point if there are multiple people within 1 mile (at the moment given the distribution of mobile users, this is quite unlikely) we'll figure out a way of highlighting those who are in close proximity without harming privacy. At the moment, this doesn't seem to be a huge problem. In North London, which we always assumed was prime swinging territory, it's rare we see multiple people within 1 mile listed. As the app gains popularity and at certain times this may change. We are monitoring and agree with the thrust of the comments. Admin x
"We see 30 resilts per page and when in central london last sunday only a handful were listed as within a mile so dont think we missed anyone due to reason you suggest" We weren't suggesting that we had missed anyone within a mile because of this. The point being made was that of everyone highlighted by the app only four were online. It doesnt matter how close o far they are I they aren't online. So to have a filter that only shows those online would have better results - someone online an 10-15 miles away will receive a message and travel quicker then someone within a mile and offline lol

"I just looked at mine and bearing in mind I live just outside Southend it is showing a couple from Bradford as 2 -3 miles away " said couple could be on holiday or visiting relatives near you , or they could even be working near you ?

"Been chatting with someone that fab says is currently less than a mile away from me at the moment and he says he is near Liverpool...slightly wrong...lol" that was possibly the last place they were in before switching off the nearby bit ?

" No, he was online, logged on to the nearby .he is originally from near me and I commented saying it was too bad I could not meet tonight given that he was less than a mile away and he messaged back saying fab had it wrong ad he was up north.

"How many of those were in the various distance bands?" about 4 within a mile about 7 2-3 miles about 6 3-5 miles about 9 5-10 miles the rest 10-15 miles Bear in mind this is based at our home, not a town centre pub/club etc. nearest town centre is about a mile and a bit away. Not that the location matters really the point is, why are people not online showing up, its supposed to be mobile and near... which suggests out and about looking for people, and you cant be looking if your offline. Also 10-20 miles is a reasonable "spontaneous meet" distance so even if the full "online" list was only topped up with people who were online 15-20 miles away, it would be easier to arrange something with them then anyone closer but not online lol
"As it stands at the moment, our filtered results (which filters out guys, and only shows couples and females) shows the following 30 results... 1, online 2, 11 mins ago 3, online 4, 7 mins ago 5, 20 mins ago 6, online 7, 18 mins ago 8, 25 mins ago 9, 18 mins ago 10, online 11, online 12, 17 mins ago 13, online 14, 29 mins ago 15, 8 mins ago 16, online 17, online 18, 29 mins ago 19, online 20, 17 mins ago 21, 23 mins ago 22, 12 mins ago 23, 18 mins ago 24, 13 mins ago 25, online 26, 13 mins ago 27, 21 mins ago 28, 20 mins ago 29, online 30, online So only 12 people online out of 30, some of the matches had been offline for over 10 minutes... Could we please filter it so only those online within say 5-10 mins are showing, as it makes the app more of a search then a find someone now thing if no-one is actually online... " At the moment it looks for online within 30 minutes. We will reduce this in the next update Admin x

"Sorry but what is the point of showing profiles who were online 30 mins ago. This is a mobile real time app so should only show those on line there and then. As I have said before with in 1 mile is no better than doing a post code search. OK it shows who is actually in your area when their profile shows somewhere else... could be a reason why they have put their real location. I would like this to show a far more accurate level... a mobile app for seeing who is in your immediate area, perhaps with a map, who is also showing they are there. I I have been told that gaydar goes own to metres. If you are worried about privacy then stick to the normal site and switch off the gps. As this stands its a bit of everything that doesn't do much. I Sorry... more work needed before it is of any real use in my opinion "
