geeky question.

my phone (motorola atrix) doesnt have gps turned on at the moment, so i guess the phones position on gps is null or does it retain the last known location?

or does it use your ip address as this is not a true location if your broadband is registered miles away.

just wondered where the location was derived from.

The GPS the phone's browser passes us, if you've allowed it to share with websites.

Admin, if GPS is Off or you do not have a phone with that feature then does it not take pass you a reading based on the 2G/3G location? (albeit less accurate?)

Funny thing is on my samsung galaxy-Y it gets a pretty damn accurate location even when GPS (and wi-fi) is off (just taking location from phone signal)

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

I'm also not getting anything in Opera (on Blackberry) - and not sure that it's even asked for permission to access GPS, so may not be solvable.

Hmmm - Opera was set to prompt if location data (aka GPS) was requested, which it wasn't doing. I changed the setting so that it would allow it anyway, but it still didn't work.
