Hi all, I know its been posted and discussed a million times on here and yes most are not taken seriously as a lot of so called photographers turn up with a camera phone or tiny point and shoot.
I have five or six grand worth of camera sitting here and am semi pro, I'm just not doing as much as I should be at the mo to keep my hand in.
I'm here use me. Will photograph anyone...
Please Negatives pass on by.... Ha see what I did there..... |

There are lots of "photographers" on this site as you say.
Some have all the gear and no idea, some have basic kit or digital point and shoot but get stunning results.
Your profile shows a bloke in a posing pouch, not a small portfolio of your work. Personally that doesn't smack of professionalism (or semi in your case).
Is your work mainly done with the camera equipment or touched up with photoshop? |

As I mentioned in another thread, doesn't matter what camera you're using as long as your composition is good and you have a decent understanding of light !
Some of the images on our profile we're taken with a mobile phone, some with a 5DMkII...can the OP tell which are which ?
What have you got that's five or six grand ? Or does that include lenses and more than one body ? |

Ok So not a portfolio on my page.... This is not where I keep my portfolio.. Most of it is in Print and in a Portfolio binder...
Kit just 2 bodies and a couple of lenses, other stuff is more specialized I didnt include that.....
I expected negativity so I really do not give a flying what people think, If you need me use me, if not pass on by, I do professional work on a semi pro basis for a few retailers, work with a few very good models and get the results I want...
Oh and BTW I hate Photodhop... |

"PS this is not a meet request so no idea why it ended up in here..."
I was guessing by your post that you are looking for people to meet so they can fulfill your request of "I'm here use me. Will photograph anyone..." |

If you hate Photoshop so much you're neither Pro or Semi-Pro...gotta love the I get it right on the camera brigade !
Actually that's not strictly true, I hate Photoshop too but it's an essential tool of my trade. Don't mistake any of the images on here for what I do in my day to day living. The ones on here are heavily processed to hide aspects of the images, not to show them off.
As I said before, the kit you use has no bearing on the images you produce, that's just the pissing up the wall the highest/penis substitute aspect of it ! How many images are ever seem at greater than websize resolution ? Not many, even the ones I produce for commercial clients.

Alot of mine are, I have huge images in print for a few stores...
Im not knocking iphone cameras etc, just the fact that alot of people that say they are photographers turn up with a point and shoot and have never ever used it off of auto, just does not look great to turn up with that kit. I have many small point and shoots etc also that I will use for varying things but will always turn up with the big kit as it oozes confidence from the client.. |

It's not that 'the big kit' oozes confidence in clients, it's that most clients know their arses from their elbows and wouldn't expect anything else !
Anyway, just ignore me...got a bee in my bonnet about semi-pro photographers at the minute as they're taking work away from those of us with the balls to actually do it as a full-time career...quite a few of my clients (the decent ones anyway) won't go near 'semi-pro' for exactly that reason. Not sour grapes, just a sad fact of life. |

"Oh well everyone has to be semi pro at some point.... Im only Semi pro as I am holding out for my big pension before doing it full time..... "
Why not advertise as an expeienced photographer instead of semi-pro?
What qualifications hold up as semi-pro?
Make yourself more approachable by showing a little of what you do by placing some of your work on your profile |

We love your photos, and as you say, by the time they have been "optimized" for uploading to a website, you cant tell what they are taken on, what will always show through is the style and skill of the model and photographer. |

As I say given up on meets from here people just don't know what they want... And there are far too many up themselves and very rude people...
And for example someone posted that they had a problem with their toilet, Im not a plumber but I have fitted toilets in my houses I know how to repair them so i offered, I was replied to aww thanks its a lomng way though(prob 30 mins) I dropped an email next day to ask if they got it sorted and just got blocked.. How rude and to be honest I have no time for rude people that love themselves.... |

Crikey...was gonna dive into the thread, but it seems all the points have been made. Some of the best photos I have ever seen were taken with a fixed focus single aperture camera and some of the worst with £10k+ of Canon 1D and L series lenses.
As long as expectations are accurately set as to the standard of the photographs that will be expected, and the rights issues are honestly discussed; then it's up to the couple wishing to be shot as to whether it is right for them. |

I've got a Nikon D3100, with a standard 18-55 lens, and a 70-300 macro lens. I bought it to document my own artwork. I posted a thread looking for a model. Don't claim to be a pro photographer, just a pro artist. Want to make a sculpture of a female nude. Will fab swing web site let me post artwork on my profile? Been turned down on other sites, interesting idea though. Also I agree with the no meets comment. I'm pretty close to giving up completely. |

I moved this thread for you to the meet section to hopefully stop people using it as a photography thread.
To the OP....if you want to start another asking for your request you may get someone interested. |

Why on earth would I want to start another thread? I started this one... I won't bother thanks, it just showed the negativity of the majority on this site and the reason more are moving onto the other one.. |

"wow, it was just an offer, no need for hysterics
No hysterics here, just wondered what would be the point of starting another one? Would that not just end up a duplicate of the same thing? "
I'm sure that you're quite right it would, but full marks for your attempts |

I can totally understand that the poster is a photographer who doesn't wish to put his pic up on his profile etc.
I too an a photographer / Videographer and editor working with high end Eos HD cameras and editing with final cut and Adobe, but don't want to have my pics on here neither, for obvious reasons. Its not worth risking everything by doing so.
So no reason to give this guy a hard time |

It doesn't really matter what camera you have, its about having the eye for a good picture, being in the right place at the right time.
I have a studio and expensive camera but when out and about if I see something that would make a good pic then its out and about with the iphone or compact
Photography s about capturing a moment in time not Kit
But if someone wants something special and stunning quality then I use the best I have and coupled with my experience you get the quality you see in my gallery :D |
