First: Can we please be NICE to Carrie, she sounded miserable. Can someone who knows her please call her and tell her that I for one realise that things can FUCK UP ROYALLY now and again.
Second: What did everyone do?
I found the Parkside (just), thought it was a dump and couldn't see any red and certainly wasn't gong to wander round asking folk if they were swingers
Drove on to Quest in the hope they might have thrown their doors open. Locked and chained.
Drove home. or perhaps is more like the truth
What has everyone else done?
And shouldn't someone try again? It was a great idea... |

It seems like the cancellation worked out well for a lot of people, sorry for the people that it didn't.
I ended up at quest and had the hottest night ever! Lots of flirting, lots of a play and an after party. Couldn't ask for more! |

Sounds as though you guys had fun. Well I DIDN'T (sulks).
I was at Quest at about 8.15 and kind of assumed there would be signs of imminent opening. They've obviously got it down to a fine art and just crack on on the minute..
Actually, I'm never totally sold on the single-guy-at-club vibe and was rather looking forward to working my charms at the social...oh well!

I really feel for poor Carrie, she puts so much effort into organising these socials for us and to be let down by the venue at the last minute is horrendous!
Having sent Carrie confirmation by email, they have left themselves open to legal action and it would serve them right if everyone claimed hotel and travel costs in a group writ!
Quite a few people found the replacement venue, however knowing who was with fab and who was just out for a drink did have it's danger as some people were just wearing red for a night out.lol
I do hope Carrie doesn't beat herself up about this as no one with any sense would put the blame on her. |

There was nothing going on at the last social that doesnt happen in any regular night club, theres no blame for you and we will continue to support you if you should arrange another social event xx.

I think legal action is pushing it a bit. It'll be hard to prove a loss and the bar may well succeed in arguing that hosting swingers would harm their reputation.
Let's just crack on and re-make!
Suggested venue-spec: Easy parking, nice-and-respectable and good nibbles! Someone must know somewhere like that.... |

What is Tupper on about - seems to be suggesting that some folk start a group legal class action against the organisers of the Leeds Social - I hope it was a typo, or he was merely jesting in apallingly bad taste. |

Agree. Bobby was either writing in error, or should be condemned. |

Can I make a suggestion. Many Fabbers seem to like Quest. I don't, but that's my choice. Why don't the owners, who have a Fab profile, impress me, and others, by offering to host the Leeds Social themseleves. Comments on a postcard please. |

If you read it again, Bobby is suggesting that the organisers take legal action against the venue for breach of promise. Personally it's unlikely to be pursued for the reasons stated above - most people wouldn't want to out themselves as swingers. |

" was thinking that myself.. even if carrie wants to organise it as 1 big meet but in quest, that way everyone can play too. And between them they could sort out a dj and food

There are a few people who prefer socials to actually be social, i.e. not in a swinger club. If a social is held in a swinger club then a) that misses the point of it being a social event and b) there is then a feeling of 'well if we're here then people should be having sex'.
I go to the York socials as they are held in a pub and I can get chatty with people with no obligation. As much as I enjoy visiting clubs, that's a whole different mood, and some people wouldn't go. By all means, arrange an event in a swinger club, but don't call it a social. |

"Spoke to Tupper and he acknowledged that he may not have been clear. Whoever you are kindly reign in your language. "
I was being polite by saying ' sorry if I didn't make it clear' what I really meant was ' can't you read'. |

... reading the above it affirms why I blocked you Robert. Tupper says he is a friend of Carrie's and her blonde girl friend who "helped out at the door of the Social". If that's true then so be it. Mind you Carrie seems to have many friends. Surely then she will return to Fab soon. It would be nice to welcome her back. |

Anyone who has the temerity to criticise the organiser needs to try and set up something like this themselves.
It's a thankless task and the fact it went wrong was not by design, or to spite you!
So if you may feel tempted to comment in a derogatory manner, try to refrain. It serves no purpose.
It was unfortunate and inconvenient for some (we turned up and the place was in darkness), but my advice would be to keep any negative thoughts and conjecture to yourself.
These things happen. |

A lot of people actually go here to socialise there is absolutely no pressure to play and that night was well busy with people just socializing xx |
