Forum Social at Alton Towers - September 2016 Part 3

There has been a fair bit of interest from fellow forumites to have a bit of a social gathering at Alton Towers. So much interest we made the papers.

Trying to please everyone with regard to dates was nigh on impossible so I've gone with the suggestion of having two socials (I won't be at both) to cater for those who can make it in the week and those who can only make it over the weekend.

Dates are:

Saturday 10th September and Monday 12th September.

All I'm doing is running the lists. If you wish to come along and meet fellow forumites and enjoy a day out its up to you to make your own way there (please let us know if you can offer lifts though) and purchase your own tickets.

Once in the park you're free to roam but it maybe nice to have a couple of rendezvous points at various locations throughout the day for those who wish to have a coffee, natter and 'WOW they look nothing like their profile pic's moment! - I'll work out these at a later date and message people privately. If you have any suggestions please do message me.

The price of tickets are £36.12 per adult if brought online at least 5 plus days in advance or £51.60 if purchased on the day.

You can also get a 2 for 1 voucher on some Cadbury's products which are valid.

I'm going with someone who doesn't want to go on the rides so I think that there will be plenty of us to buddy up with.

I think meeting up first thing etc is an excellent idea. Its a social so going to the park on our own is a bit daft. However, I'm reluctant to state details publically. I don't know what others think?

Not a bad idea you know. I didn't think of that. I may do the same. Pointless for me going up and coming back on the same day, especially if you're shattered from all the rides!

There is a water park too within the hotel (i think or naybe closeby) but seperate entry is required.

The girl from the Star, judging by her age, is probably an unsalaried intern who only gets a paid if she can provide a juicy story capable of being on the front page or similar. Her CV shows that she is not currently employed directly by the Star, but instead has had articles published in a number of different papers, so at the very least peeps, try to up your game and at least make it into the Guardian

I think a few of us are petal! I LOVE roller coasters but hat the stomach churny rides (pirate ship, waltzer etc) - so I think it may be better to go round in a group so people who want to go on a certain ride can pair off as and when? Not even for Brad Pitt will I go on a pirate ship ride!

We would offer lifts up but maybe it would seem presumptuous as we are going up Fri coming back Sun

Why not just all meet up inside Alton Towers? There are some water fountains as you go through the main entrance, that could be a meeting point? Just need everyone to agree on a time?
