Would anyone be interested in a social in Leeds, Sunday 8th December. This would be the first time I put anything together which will explain my choices in the information below. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to throw them in.
Ideally _ooking at a mixture of newbies and those with a little experience, so people can learn a little more about the scene while padding out their little black contact books and not running the risk of being scared off.
I'd personally like to hold it in a bar in the city centre, which is within easy access of about 4 different hotels. I'm aware this isn't ideal for everyone, although I thought it would be easier for those who do wish to play to move on there while the others can stay for chat or go home for work the next day. No play on site unless you want to risk the toilets, which isn't advisable.
Limiting the amount of single men would probably be for the better as I don't want anyone making a fool of themselves or putting anyone off the lifestyle. Keeping the numbers reasonably low to actually encourage conversation rather than little cliques forming.
All that said, who fancies it? |

There's a couple of places I have in mind that are reasonably priced, have enough room for a good group of us and close enough for the train, bus and hotels so hopefully we get some interest. |

I did think that but as it's aimed at having a mix of newbies and the more experienced I figured having it on a day that Isis is closed might help figures and people to stay for longer to get to know each other. Otherwise I thought people might show for a few then toddle off to Isis heh |

Sorry to hear that _attykit, maybe next time then hun.
According to Isis website it isn't but whether or not that's up to date is another thing.
Hopefully it doesn't put people off, it is just a social after all and not a late night party with expectation to play |

I know they started opening on Sunday but it's been about a year since I've been so it might not have taken off and they stopped it, I'm sure someone on here will be able to enlighten us.
I get that it's just a social but if I were to go to one on a Sunday I'd probably leave by 10pm and that's just too early! The last one in Leeds we were all out til about 3am, it was a great night. |

Its hard enough to get a meet on a sunday night let alone get people to a social as most have work or the school runs on the monday and generally people end up getting a bit merry. Plus public transport is a dick on a sunday and the last trains are often around 10-10:30pm.
Like another poster said, most go to the york social which is only a day or two before.
At a damn good social people dont feel the need to go elsewhere so dont let that put you off. Some may go later in the night but with enough people there it wouldnt be noticable. We organised a couple of small socials in blackpool at a pub near the hotel and they were having such a good time the furthest they went was to the door for a cig.
Whatever you decide to do though I hope you get a good turnout   |

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. Hopefully we still get a respectable turn out even with the shortcomings that have been pointed out.
Just on a side note, your profile is bloody hilarious, kinda gutted about your preferences but they are yours after all heh. |

No drama's. Just something to be mindful of. I think Liz is working until 6 that night so by the time we get there we would probably only have an hour or so and then have to head home. Good luck with it, we look forward to reading how it goes |

I'll definitely be keeping the thread updated and will write a little review when it's finished, providing enough people want to come to make it worthwhile heh. There's a couple of people on the list so far but would love to make it a lot longer. |

i'll be keeping the post up to date every few days, or as often as I can.
i'll let everyone who's said yes what is happening for 100% on around the 4th or 5th, including the chosen destination. it will all be done via private message, so it's not passed around. although at this point, we could really use a few more! |

There's a few people who have contacted me via pm so its not a total bust. Expected a few more but its the first one i've organised and the York one a couple of days prior.

Well a few people turned up and laughs, cheap hotels and a verbal tour of Amsterdams nightlife ensued.
Maybe a little disappointed in the turn out but ah well, c'est la vie! |
