"A group organised social. So fed up with having to travel 2-3 hours for a club x"
Yes it is slightly forgotten corner. Used to arrange Stansted way before and I've seen some in Ipswich.
Reckon you'd get lots of interest in a Colchester social. Best bet is pick a day and location and go for it. Might try to come with lady friend. |

"Let’s make it happen"
Make it happen then . These discussions can go round the houses and nothing happens. Everyone waits for somebody else to do the hard work. Seen it loads of times. One person just needs to pick a venue, a date, advertise it and make it happen. I’ve done it before but too far from Colchester to organise this one.
I did see a private bar for hire in Colchester the other day. Takes 40 and need to commit £300 takings for the bar which is not a lot. |

A social is a great idea. I know thirs a few in Ipswich that would like to go to a local one. Colchester town center would be easy for lots of people to get to. Maybe a venue near the train station so people out of town would not have to drive. The Norwich social is good. We have been to that several times. Pop us on the list. Happy to help |

Someone needs to take the initiative and organise, or be like us in Ipswich we are a small group working together.
If we had waited to join in on someone else doing the work then the social probably wouldn't be happening soon |

Get a small group together and arrange it. We are part of the 8 strong Ipswich group and we have just hit the venue capacity for the first social!
All it takes is a little bit of time and effort spread between the group to get the venue and send out the invites. |

"What are the rail connections like from Ye Olde London Towne to Colchester?"
Generally really good, easily reached from Liverpool St Colchester is on the mainline between there and Norwich, however there are currently a lot of bus replacements most weekends and some evenings on part of the line. |

It seems everyone wants to go but no one wants to put the effort in. We found that meeting a few locals on a private meet and putting a team together of like minded genuine people well friends now was the easiest way. The work got shared, everyone did thir bit however they could and we all put ideas in and got it done. You have to cater for everyone even tho some thing you might not want. Managing numbers and getting the right mix is the key. Male female couples ratio is also a big player. Single guys can kill it before it starts. Genuion long term swinging couples can be put off along with SINGELE lady's. |

"TBA I forgot, we've been going to clubs. Be good to do something in Colchester, hopefully a bit of balance with couples, singles etc. Any ideas where to meet for a drink or 2?"
A pub |

I messaged the profile about 4 wks ago. Had a reply but no details. There has been no activity on their profile for a week though there is a date and time but alas nothing else which is a shame as the Ipswich one is very well tended and feel this would be too
