Morning all!
Hope everyone's enjoying the long weekend.
With restrictions easing, I'm lookung to organise a Berkshire social.
Couples, single men, single fems and anyone really who fancies meeting up for a drink and chat with like-minded people.
No hassles/pressure or expectations, just friendly chat and a laugh. Obviously people may hit it off and arrange other meets, I just thought it might be good to try to get the Berkshire fabbers together!
Anyone interested? |

We might be, it depends how big the event is going to be and where it is. We’ve been to a couple now and have had mixed findings.
The Oxford social we attended was mostly good. Maybe 40 people at the back of a cocktail bar. It wasn’t an exclusive use venue, but the back had been booked out so we know those we were talking to were from Fab. We chatting to a few folk but then the music got too loud so we struggled for conversation and actually had to organise subsequent socials with those we liked at a later date.
Overall it allowed us to connect with some nice folk, but the loud music let it down.
The Bristol Social we attended was pointless and felt like a money making exercise (paid entry). The venue was exclusive use but they packed too many people in so you literally could not move. There wasn’t enough seating, the music was too loud and it was awful.
You might spot someone interesting but could not get over to say hi, and even if you did you couldn’t have a conversation.
It should have been advertised as a clubbing night out for swingers.
I mean maybe we’re old fashioned, but to us the whole point of a group social is to meet and connect with like minded folk. That can’t happen if the venue is too busy or too loud.
Just our tuppence worth. |

Thanks for the reply and sharing your experiences.
I'd like it to be very informal and social, definately no paid entry.
Obviously keep the numbers to a good level, avoidng it becoming a single male/sausage fest.
Just a decent pub, decent chat and connecting with like-minded people.
So far just you guys have replied..drinks for three then! |

Hi!
We went to our first social recently and it was good, again apart from the loud music from a live band, couldn’t hear anyone speak and not enough seating. However, in their defence it was supposed to be in a bigger venue but had to be rearranged last minute which they dealt with very well
We’d be happy to go to more, meet people, chat and find some defaults playmates
Hope this helps? xx |
