I do even though I rarely race anymore. Most of the cyclists I know do. It's almost a statement of intent, a declaration that you are a "real" cyclist. I would guess conservatively that 90% of racing cyclists do even at club level and that at higher levels that percentage would be nearer 100%.
And people will tsay it's aerodynamics or massage, that's bollocks it's all about vanity. |

shaving legs for cycling is for a combination of things really,if you race it makes it easier for pre-race & post race massage enabling hands to glide to easier over your legs without the masseur tugging at your hair on legs, also in case of crashing it makes easier for cleaning the wound and aplying a dressing,it seeems to be a tradition going back many years but i dont know when or where it atarted. |

you dont shave legs or face on the morning of a race for sure, night before a race its not a relaxing bath but a shower, same strength sapping tradition of thought. |

I cycle recreationally, not racing and nope I don't shave my legs, although some times I wish I did when the legs get scraped.... Buddy of mine thinks I'm kink because I wear lycra cycle shorts...If only he knew they were padded to protect my balls... not kinky, just looking after me jewels |

it seems to turn some people on to refer to cyclists as'lycra-clad cyclists',why?,what does the lycra do for these non-cyclists may i ask?.
i was riding years ago when all i could find to wear was wool mix shorts with a chamois insert to protect me balls and crutch, and a wool jersey that was terrible in the rain!,lycra shorts with synthetic insert & is a godsend as lightwight easy to wash and dry. |

lol,i did not know about that, but i do know that whenever cyclists are mentioned in newspapers he/she is always referred to as lycra clad thus emphasising the fact. |
