I met our postie for the first time ever today.
We exchanged pleasantries from a safe distance and then he left my post on the wall for me to pick up when he’d moved away.
It was surreal but very good to meet him. |

We’re both posties. I’m staying at home because of fears of the consequences if I catch this. I’ve got asthma and although I’m not in the shielding group, I’m on my 4th course of steroids in 10 months. Of course, RM are now getting stroppy because I’m still waiting for my sick note to arrive from my gp, which they posted at the beginning of the week.
RM claim to have implemented social distancing but it’s simply not true. Most depots still have no ppe, some don’t even have soap and paper towels in the toilets! Most are too small to make sure frames are 2m apart and parcel sorting is still being done shoulder to shoulder.
Staff are dropping like flies and there are unconfirmed reports that several postal workers are seriously ill in hospital, one from Nottingham mail centre is said be in intensive care on a ventilator.
The government need to put a stop to people being able to order unnecessary crap online. What’s the point of buying that cute dress when you’re not permitted out to wear it anyway? The massive increase in stuff like this being shipped is not only delaying the important stuff getting through, it’s possibly risking postal workers lives!

Obvious junk mail should be shredded as soon as it enters the network until this is over.
Waste of time and an added risk for a posty to try to deliver a catalogue selling thermal bobble hats to keep your boiled eggs warm |

It’s not just junk mail. Posties are still having to deliver door 2 door leaflets. We have to treat them as if they were first class mail. Who needs a dominos leaflet, dfs sale leaflet etc at this time? Some of this weeks leaflets have been in very poor taste considering the crisis, could you imagine having a loved one in hospital and receiving a leaflets for discount on funerals |
