Has anyone else had a email from hotmail saying their account has been blocked?. Here is part of it they sent me;
#This e-mail has been sent to you by Hotmail to inform you that your account has been blocked
Why are you seeing this? Someone may have used your account to send out a lot of junk messages (or something else that violates the Windows Live Terms of Service).
We're here to help you get your account back. What do you need to do?
We'll ask you to login to our secured activation page by following the link below and re-activate your account#
Normally i would just bin these sort of emails, but this one im not sure if it is genuine or a scam. Anyone know? |

If you are unsure, then just go into your hotmail account via the normal way in your browser and if you can log into it then you ain't been blocked. Personally I would just delete. |

Its genuine, has happened to us twice.
Your hotmail account has been used as part of a "spam bot" program, to spam the internet. Your computer gets infected with a virus, which sits in your hard-drive and infects other accounts, hooking them up to form a huge network thats available to the spammers, enabling them to spam millions of accounts worldwide.
Reset your account with the information provided, and for security, change your password regularly.
Also, run your anti-virus package regularly, in case the spam-bot virus has left a "gateway".... think thats the best way to describe it, not really a techie geek but thats how it was described to me lol! |

is that wording from an actual email. or a webpage you see when you try to log into Hotmail via a web browser,
If its the latter, then yes, your hotmail account has been compromised in someway,
had this myself a few weeks ago, numerous scans of my PC using various methods, and i know all the right tools to use found nothing.
did the password reset and no issues since
my first alert to this was people in my contacts list telling me i was sending them spam mails
