"Johnny Cash - Hurt"

I hate that I have to agree as I love NIN, but his version was amazing. His cover of The Mercy Seat by Nick Cave and the bad seeds is amazing too!

Luckily I love them all so happy with all the versions, and seen NIN and NC perform them live x

Sympathy for the Devil- GnR

Sound of Silence- Disturbed

Cats in the Cradle- Ugly Kid Joe

Behind Blue Eyes- Limp Bizkit (they do a great cover but love The Who’s version too)

Hurt- Johnny Cash (live NIN version too)

The Mercy Seat- Johnny Cash (love Nick Cave’s version so much though)

Temptation- Cradle of Filth

Anything Marilyn Manson has covered- although can’t say I don’t love the originals.

Basically pretty much anything that has been covered by a rock/metal band or Johnny Cash.

For non instrumental covers anything by Apocalyptica.

Luckily I’ve seen all bar The Who and Johnny Cash so can say that I definitely approve of the covers having seen them live as well x

I don't think anything can beat the look that Kurt gives at the end of the song on MTV Unplugged. It's haunting.

I do agree. It's a great version don't get me wrong. I love Nirvana but listen to the original lead belly version and it's haunting all the way through. Sadly no video in those days.

Nah, disagree - but that’s the joy of music.
