It’s one of the shitty realities of all this that job losses and recession is inevitable.

My sympathies are with anyone that’s lost their job, I’m freelance in my profession and I’m fully expecting to have some very tough months ahead.

I do keep reminding myself that I could be worse off, I have my health and my beautiful penis which I’m both very thankful for.

The measures announced today aren’t loans, they are grants so the govt will foot the bill, with no time limit set (yet).

Yes nursing homes and hospitals.Agency workers will lose out as many places are on lock down so might not use them as much as usual! Good to go on bank or relief as you will be used before the agency worker as it’s cheaper!

It is crap. Two thirds of our place went on Wednesday and I am hanging on as I am core staff but will probably only last a few weeks longer.

To anybody that has lost their job today my heart goes out to you all it can’t be easy for you.As has been stated on this thread supermarkets are hiring and so are their distribution centres please consider it as a short term measure until you get back on your feet.Also don’t be ashamed to claim Universal Credit or Jobseekers Allowance contribution based.Each time you claim benefits your national insurance contributions are paid by the government so when you get to pension age there shouldn’t be a shortfall in your state pension

Only available for salaried people. !! Mr Sunak said he’s used this to be available for the majority of people!!! So us on paid per hour are fooked.

It doesn’t mean everyone made redundant will get paid 80% of their wages. It means if companies temporarily lay off workers but don’t terminate their contracts then the employer can claim a grant for 80% of their employees contracted wage to enable them to pay them 80% still. Plus it’s the employers choice whether to top up themselves the extra 20%. The point is it will keep people employed technically so when we come out of this they can still have jobs and the employers will then be Able to revert back to paying as before. It can be backdated also to 1st March. So if you were laid off in last couple weeks talk to your employer and if they are willing to take u back on u can receive this 80%

Yes it’s an incentive for employers not to make staff permanently redundant and as it can be backdated it should mean a lot of people who have been made redundant by twitchy fingered employers these last couple weeks can be sorted also. As an employer I was pretty impressed really by this initiative. I’d been holding back making any staff redundant until I saw what the government support would be but now I can temporarily lay off, make up the additional 20% and keep all staff on full money until the economy picks up. Win win

No, the 5 week wait and the appointment in the job centre have been scrapped, it's immediate. Also speak to your employer as they will be able to give you 80% depending on how you were finished.

This shouldn’t make a difference to whether your employer can claim the 80% grant. As long as you are/were in employment on 29th Feb then this can be implemented if you employer does it. If u wanna message me direct with your actual predicament then I will give u my advice. If your employer isn’t going under then he’s gotta be a lot of an arsehole if he/she doesn’t do this for u

self employed won't get help I've just returned to self employment and you bet your life criterias have to be met, it does actually support the ever increasing trend in this country to look after ones self and the panic buying was a prime example of this but this thing whatever it is is going to go on for a long time yet but on a lighter note I'm going for a walk on the beach

Yes I’m concerned about the criteria. I had to take most of last year off due to personal reasons and family illness so if it goes on last years accounts I’m buggared!

There's still taxes coming in from people a stll working.

The Ministry of Defence gets billions each year so I'm sure the UK government will be able to get the funds from somewhere by offsetting.

I will happily take the upto £25k Grant for each of my businesses. I’m led to believe that local councils are going to be sorting it. Any help the government is prepared to give, helps me to top up my staff and keep them all employed and on full pay thru this downturn

That's where helicopter money comes in. Unlimited money printing by central banks in an attempt to keep the whole thing from collapsing. It will pile on more debt that can never be repayed and will trigger hyperinflation soon enough

A grant is a form of government aid and doesn’t need to be paid back. A loan is an entirely different thing. They are also offering loans but that has to be paid back although they will cover the interest for first 12 months plus any up front fees charged by the lender.

Millions of people are getting help. And there’s more to come. I actually think the initiatives already announced have been very good. And like I said earlier I’m sure the self employed will soon have similar help
