Newcastle and Gateshead

if you get the virus (after all they reckon at least 60% of us will)

will you announce it on here if you go to clubs,

will you alert the clubs that you have been

are you going to send e-mail to any meets you would have had in at least the 14 day period......

just thinking out loud today... just because "none of your business" isn't really a right answer at the moment if the goal is to try and protect each other.......

In all reality they arent testing everyone with symptoms so you'll never be sure if it was a cold or covid-19 unless you need hospital treatment

The only place I go socially is a club so yes, I would inform the club so they could take any steps required to keep as many people virus free as possible. I'd also want to know if another attendee came down with it so I could keep a closer eye out for symptoms.

I think the bigger problem is that most who get it won't know for sure.

If I have the basic symptoms, best self isolate but they won't test me.

Do I notify everyone just in case it is Corvid-19 or not?

Yes, if you're showing the symptoms of it, not just cold symptoms but the persistent, dry cough and fever.

Why would you? You're meant to be self-isolating anyway, you shouldn't be in a club or on a meet while you are contagious.

To not announce that you have the Virus is irresponsible and defines the type of person that you are.

I agree actually, but I worry many may not or will misuse the system. To me testing is important. Those who are negative can return to work rather than waste 2 weeks off.

No where near yet but there's a vaccine for flu. Thd lack of a vaccine is the worry given the rapid global spread.

I agree to a certain extent but people are taking the piss, they sneeze and call 111, expect to be tested and throw a paddy if they aren't, all it takes is abit of common sense and we can reduce the strain on the nhs massively.

There isn’t a vaccine for the flu.

Experts to look at the flu development in Canada and Australia and predict an antibody for a predicted flu epidemic.

They don’t look to China, if I remember rightly, that is where the worst genetic virus jumps are coming from at the moment.

Yes, there's a flu vaccine. Or more accurately several, since there are several strains.

At risk groups are encouraged to be vaccinated each year against the ones currently doing the rounds.

Yes, L has to have one every year.

However the vaccine is purely a guess, from data from Canada and Australia.

China never comes into the equation.

Can't find data for the city itself, but the wider province of Hubei that Wuhan is in (data from Weds 11th March):

In Hubei province, 67,781 cases, 3,056 deaths and 50,298 recoveries have been reported so far.

It’s not easy as I can’t be tested as I am not serious enough, I don’t know if I have it. I haven’t been to a club for a week. I have minor symptoms

Sore throat, minimal cough, ribs were hurting yesterday but not today. Achy muscles some yesterday and this morning not so much in last few hours

I know people that are far far worse than me - I am not meeting at the moment as I am self isolating anyway

I feel in limbo - would like to be tested if I have so be it, if not brilliant.

The thing is most of the people who do get it will find it hard to determine if it's standard cold/cough symptoms or something worse.

If I had those I wouldn't want to meet anyway.

I decided last week to start cancelling things where i would come into close contact with others. My name is still on the lists for a couple of group socials, but I'll be amazed if they go ahead anyway.

Won't be going to any clubs until it's over. And afterwards, if I've had it I'll certainly tell any prospective meet. And if I've not had it, i would expect other people to tell me if they have.

There's no shame to it either way, it's just going to be a matter of common courtesy and respect for others.

Did you get them figures from WHO website? When looking at data, you can take it face value as lots of factors are involved. Remember China has better medical resources, they went through very authoritarian and strict strategies to contain the virus. So looking at data alone isn't the best way to assess what issues were facing. One thing i do know about Asia, generally people's attitudes are very community based. My British friend is temporary living in Singapore. The country has much smaller population but live in quite crowded city like conditions with quite high percentage of people over 60. When the government noticed their numbers were climbing, they took fast action by developing an thermo scanner and tested EVERYONE during transition points like university, supermarkets. Gave excellent health care to anyone found to be infected. They kept their numbers to less than 300 and no deaths...

I really don't think people do... Tell strangers that they were in the same room for more than 15 minutes, touching the same surfaces and not washing hands regularly (which i know for a fact people don't do it properly etc) then touching faces and maybe kissing if they had the flu which still can and does kill people. I visited Japan and can say our public hygiene isn't up to the standard it should be.

This is where I am today - due to some twat who decided it would be funny to email people on my friends list saying I am self isolating for corona - I have since hidden all veri in the last 12 months.

I have not had symptoms since Thursday last week and that was a light cough, and the sore throat came Friday mornings.

I am being precautionary and it could just be a cold or flu but I don’t know because I can’t get tested. Which is crazy.

When is the time lines for getting it, when do we notify people - there is no guidance. The guidance says self isoloate - so that’s what I have done

Do people tell me if they have a std scare or waiting for results - no the use a condom

if the flu has been and gone and youre not at the stage where you might infect someone with the common flu no need to say really but if you have the symptoms then generally its pretty obvious and we do, everyones sense of hygiene is different and maybe the Japanese have exceptional hygiene practices i don't know not been, i rarely get colds even when in the company of those that do
