A few teams have already said they won't race if anyone drops out |

"F1 has gone crap.
In your opinion yea. But some of us still want to watch it"
I used to watch it but its too computerised now. If they were racing in Fred Flintstones car I'd still be watching it |

"No loss. Most boring sport ever, covid 19 has more charisma than world champ!
I bet youre a football fan"
I agree with him and I'm not a football fan. But it had better not get in the way of the btcc season or I will be pissed off. |

I guess in some respects, but in another there is probably more computer assists in your car than an F1 car |

If another pulls out they'll most likely just stop it for now. They wind run it behind closed doors, little revenue except sky and others. It's not just the ticket sales, it's everything else going on behind the scenes that generates millions into it. |

The FIA stated previously that if one team couldn’t compete then the event would be cancelled. Since they have apparently chosen to withdraw, we will have to wait and see. I expect an announcement will be made very soon. |

McLaren's reason for withdrawing from the Australian Grand Prix is due to a member of their team having tested positive for the virus.
Naturally, they haven't mentioned who, but I do know that F1 teams are well oiled machines and that if they lose a team member, it can seriously affect their ability to compete.
What if it's a member of the pit crew. Can't have a car leaving the pits with a wheel missing now can we? |

They’ve had pit crew injuries in the past and managed to finish the race, I doubt the loss of one mechanic would have much impact on them.
It’s more likely their insurance or lawyers have told them to withdraw. |

I can't see it going ahead. It's just a matter of time before more members of the F1 circus test positive, which will see more teams withdrawing. I can see the first 3 or 4 GPs being suspended/cancelled, as the virus situation is going to get worse before it gets better. |

Two FIA sources have confirmed it is now cancelled, Bahrain which was already looking dodgy is likely to follow, China already cancelled and Vietnam almost certainly going to be cancelled imminently.
It might kick off in Spain in May, but by that time, some of the teams are likely to have gone to the wall with sponsors pulling out due to lack of exposure. |

So it has now been announced that the Australian Grand Prix has been cancelled and the Bahrain and Vietnam races postponed. Looking like the first race of the season will be the Dutch Grand Prix on 3rd May |

So bahrain and Vietnam now postponed. Likely no races until Baku!
It just seems the sensible thing to do, it really isn't worth the risk of getting people in big crowded environments and passing it around. Was looking forward to a great season but this was the right decision. |

Toca have just announced that so far the btcc is going ahead as planned so maybe you could see this as an opportunity to watch a different racing series. |

Not entirely convinced I can see them starting in May either. Given 3/4 of the teams are based in the UK and we are not expecting to hit our peak for another month or so I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see any racing until June or July - if at all. |

Never mind Formula 1 at this rate every single major sporting event over next few months is going to be wiped out.
Today football, The Masters, London Marathon, all postponed indefinitely.
The Wales v Scotland Rugby match as well as England's cricket tour called off. It will not be long before the 2020 Euros and the likes of Wimbledon will bite the dust as well. |

Really disappointed and very frustrated but sadly we can’t do anything. As a hole the covid isn’t that bad to almost all the people. Other than a few but we still need to protect them so it is what it is and definitely we will be stuck like this for months. |

F1 made the call much too late for it to make any difference. Once everyone was at the gates of the circuit any infection was already happening. By that point they might just as well have carried on.
If an event is going to be cancelled to prevent infection it needs to be done before people are arriving. |

Good to hear

Can we assume this flu only lasts 4 days?"
Well the recommended isolation is 7 days so he could have had it for a few day before confirmation
