"And what's with all the panic buying of bog roll, just use your hands and then wash them using one of your 100 soap bars."
Shower head as makeshift bidet, if it comes to it. Which it won't. |

"Rubbing alcohol and aloe vera gel in a 2:1 mix. High enough alcohol content to be useful against viruses, which standard hand San is not.
Aloe stops hands drying out.
Cheap and easy to make. "
Which strength of rubbing alcohol ? |

Today I went to Asda, Tesco, poundshop, B&M Bargains, Home Bargains, Gordons, 2 Boots stores, Spar, and the local chemist. All sold out and none of them could tell me when they would get more stock in. People have gone nuts of it. Baby wipes were also sold out.

This. Vodka doesn't have a high enough alochol content to make an effective hand sanitizer. It has to be about 60% alochol to work right while you're average vodka is 40%. |

No soap in my supermarket since before the weekend & not a single case of virus here yet. I only wanted one bottle for the downstairs loo ffs! Got some shower gel for a quid a bottle instead. It's still soap & the hot water will do the rest. It's not rocket science. |

Doesn’t work
Wasting your vodka

Which he is diluting in aloe vera. I make it up daily for work and use 60% neat ethanol. |

That’s the stuff to use - ethanol or rubbing alcohol - minimum 60% alcohol.
Vodka is only 40% and so not suitable for killing the bacteria |

It's not bacteria you're trying to kill. Although it will also (which means the "good" bacteria also. |

Regular antibacterial soap works fine. Idiots buying too much stock have caused these rip off merchants to pop up. Clean your hands thoroughly to prevent any possible spread .... but masks and sanitiser are just over the top and at this point, no more helpful than cleaning your hands with antibacterial soap. Of which there is tons still on shelves. |

This is also a concern with people going a bit mental with the alcohol gel. That it will dry the skin and cause small cuts after you've killed your skins commensal bacteria. There's always a fine balance with these things. |

I don't have hot water(long story, not worth telling) in the house but I go have a lot of hand gel (randomly had it for a while, not been stockpiling) plus there was no loo roll shortage when I was shopping yesterday so I think I'm ok. |

"You don't need antibac gel, just use hot water and soap and make sure you wash your hands well."
But its not always possible especially when using public transport.
I'm in the at risk group so I'm using it more than I normally do. |

In the same way they're coming down heavy on coronavirus."
I actually think the government are doing OK. Its people that need to start changing their behaviour.

If it's a worry you could also use gloves this would limit your risk, as long as you don't touch your face with the gloves. |

The tube is a breeding ground at the best of times.
Will will still use the tube but we are not stupid enough to believe its risk free. |

I like grannies with HUGE Asdas
If you've got a huge Asda you'll definitely need more bog rolls. Sorry for my toilet humour....ouch.
I'm with you Ms Crumpet. The bog roll situation is mad but sadly inevitable.
Just hope people don't panic buy nappies instead. That's a point why aren't they sold out if the same reasons for bog rolls are true.
Strange world eh. |

"Anti bacterial Washing up liquid does the job "
As some who has dry skin problems, WUL breaks down grease and contains a small amount of salt. Neither of these are good for compromised skin like mine. This is why washing up gloves exist. |
