I stopped buying fray bentos products for the other half and DD when she didn't eat all her fray bentos meatballs I left them for the cats and they licked the gravy off and left the meat. If all 3 cats wouldn't eat the meat then there's something wrong with them.

Was always skeptical about pies in tins, but tried my first Fray Bentos pie last year and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I call them the pot noodle of pies. |

"They are worse than dog food... absolutely vile things - definitely stick to the mighty pukka pie"
Had one when I was a kid. Chewed and chewed on what I thought was meat....turned out to be some sort of heart valve or vein......my mum posted the offending item back to frey bentos with a strongly worded letter...
Never touched one since. |

Any meat in a tin is wrong. Pastry in a tin is wrong. Potatoes in a tin are wrong.
Peas. Sweetcorn. Tomatoes and tuna are about all I'll touch in a tin |

There was a guy at Uni who found an ingenious way of getting the lid off. He put it in the oven to cook it and the lid blew the oven door open and sent FB steak and kidney pie flying around the kitchen. The twat had left the lid on |

Forget fray bentos or pukka or any other pies...best pie is definitely a Bristol Clark's pie
The Best of Bristol all made and baked fresh daily in North St Bristol. Get em fresh rather than from the chippie...If you haven't tried one you've got to have a go |

It’s worked a treat when I’ve been ill and not had the energy to cook for my lad... everything gets thrown in the oven / microwave from the cupboard / freezer and he’s got a filling meal. He loves them as no bottom to the pie just a crispy top .... job done |

Yes no pie bottom. How can a pie have no bottom and call itself a pie. |

Yes no pie bottom. How can a pie have no bottom and call itself a pie."
There are three types of pie:-
A filled pie (also single-crust or bottom-crust), has pastry lining the baking dish, and the filling is placed on top of the pastry but left open.
A top-crust pie has the filling in the bottom of the dish and is covered with a pastry or other covering before baking.
A two-crust pie has the filling completely enclosed in the pastry shell. |

So how can it be pie at the same time? It's not quantum entanglement. |

I tried a frey bentos pie recently and expected it to be just like I remember. It was actually full of fresh air and hardly any meat or filling but lots of gravy. Maybe it was my memory but everything made cheaper these days. I prefer a pukka pie but homemade best of all.
Not sure who made it but there was a tinned meat product that marketed itself as, 'No fat or gristle, 100% guaranteed'. It was all reconstituted meat so no chance of finding fat or gristle. |
