What on Earth is going on with people?!?
I don't get it! Why are people panic-buying pasta, toilet roll and cleaning products?!?
Coronavirus doesn't even cause diarrhoea! What on earth are people doing? I went today just to get a few bits and it's been ravaged!

Supermarket systems order automatically based on average weekly sales, so when suddenly everyone buys more then it takes a while for the system to replenish and calculate how much should be ordered. So I see this as a short term issue....hopefully lol |

I’m assuming its to blow their nose with?
Because if you’re like me, everytime you pass a toilet roll, you take a bit with you in case you get a runny nose. I don’t do hankies. |

I always have 72 toilet rolls in the house as standard so if i cant get any over the next month will just dip in to supplies... if tge worse comes to it i got enough calories on board to fast for 14 days and i got water from the tap to drink. |

Given how fast it is spreading, and italy now having 1/4 of its population on lockdown, it is very realistic that could happen here.
Italy will be on lockdown for nearly 2 months.
That is a long time to make things in your house last should shop workers not decide to open or cant go to work.
So pasta because it lasts a long time and is filling.
Loo roll, because lets face it, nobody wants to go without it, and hand gels for obvious reasons.
Food, hygeine and sanitry products, a basic modern human neccessity now. |

Was same at my supermarket half shelves were empty no soap no loo roll half tins gone half alcohol gone and was crazy busy queue to get in was crazy when left madness. But apparently it all went batshit crazy from Friday after guy died in mk after being on public ward 6 hrs so ppl gone loco lol |

The supply chain is fine but working at its usual pace. Who would have considered that half the country would go crazy for loo roll and pasta? Stocks will be replenished and higher orders will be made. The stuff doesn't just magically appear in the shelves it has to be made and packed and shipped and sorted. |

I do think some of the panic and hoarding is justified though. Due to the terrible events in Italy, pasta may indeed become scarce. Even if the spaghetti and farfalle crops are harvested, exporting the crop will be impossible with closed boarders. |

Never have I seen any of the above spread this fast and cause as much isolation as is happening now.
Newspapers are losing sales in huge numbers to the internet and needed a blockbuster event to try and win back readers - Along came Covid19 - Coronavirus.
Have seen headlines such as "50.000 deaths a week" " Burials at sea as Crematoria would be unable to cope" and so it goes on, Th Press have a lot to answer for."
Or perhaps they're hoping to increase the sales of newspapers as an alternative to the out of stock toilet paper! It's all most of them are good for anyway. |
