threads.

I normally start off with a good idea of what id like to be a thread about when i start one, i do sometimes search a keyword to see if anything is about. I tend to read the OP carefully to make sure the question is the same thing i am looking for responses too

Is it good to bring back older threads with opinions of people who may no longer be on the site anymore or should new threads be started?

TBH either - a lot of threads seem to crop up regularly - and there's nothing wrong with that.

But with recycled ones some people will read the whole thread, decide someone's said something similar to their viewpoint and as a result not post themselves. So a new post might encourage more contributors.

Start New.

Reason? If the other post is quite old then half the people are missing.

If the thread is quite long then everything has already been said

If the...... Just START it......

If anyone says ....ooo this again ..... don't even react.

Start new - and new people will post so even if topics have been done before, the "flavour" of the thread will be different as the contributions will be.

most people will say start new.. i am going to be different... it depends on how long ago it was....

obviously if we are talking about topics that were discussed years ago then i don't see the point of restarting up those... but again if the same topic came up in the last few weeks... i don't see the point starting a new thread again and again and again....
