Probably a fair final score
Interesting examples of ball handling - and other cheating - by England....
(Lucky not to have Marler and Owen Farrell carded in the first half, and to not concede a penalty try for Tuilagi’s shoulder charge....) |

What a game... shame about the last 10 minutes but plenty of great rugby. I don't think the red card was the right decision, but he was just too late to make a propper tackle.
Really enjoyed the game though and Wales played incredibly in the second half. |

Owen worries me, he's so hot-headed, always giving away stupid penalties trying to show how hard he is. He is a great player, but a liability and not a good captain.

Good game, easy win for England, score line flatterers Wales, they are poor at the mo but great spirit not to cave in after first half, England need better discipline moving forward |

The contact didn't look like it was against his head at all, and there were mitigating circumstances in the fact that the player was already falling in the tackle... and Manu was already committed. |

It's hard to say where his arms would have been if there was still a body in the path of the tackle. The arms are much easier to change direction than the entire body... it's all academic though, the ref called it as he saw it and we must respect that decision. |

Great game and England performance. I thought the red was the worse I've seen this 6 Nations but I think his red card was spot on. I think if Manu had used his arm then it was a yellow at worse.
Poor Wales performance apart from Navidi and Tomkins. What's happened to their front row? |

Ironically, had Tuilagi tried to "wrap his arms", then in all probability there would have been serious contact to North's head (don't get me started on him playing due to his concussion issues)!
Penalty certainly, card probably (not 100% certain as North was falling due to Slade's [excellent] tackle). |

It was the fact he tucked his right arm under his body therefore leading with his shoulder that cost him. Definitely no attempt to use his arms in the tackle. |

Yup
At this rate, not even a losing bonus point for France
Championship will go down to the final weekend - and on whether Italy’s last two “postponed” games are deemed to be 0-0 draws (ie Ireland 2pts, England 2pts, Italy 4pts) |

It may not be a bad thing for France. Makes us come down from our cloud ahead of the Irish game.
The championship is still up for grab.
And in any case for such a young team, new management...it’s promising for the future.
Hat’s off to the scotts they managed this game very well. |

If they can't play the two postponed games, surely the only reasonable thing to do would be to cancel the results of all of Italy's games and award the Championship based on the 5 Nations scenario. |

Postponed means postponed ...
The championship will be finalised when those games are played ... eventually

That could be next season. Some where along the line a decision has to be taken that takes into consideration the players welfare. If you set the games to be played at the end of the domestic season, then with summer tours already planned you would be looking at 2 back to back 12 month seasons. Common sense should prevail. Everyone would then know exactly what they need to achieve next weekend. |

Not what happened in the Rugby World Cup
If this turns into a proper pandemic, there may be no games for months. Would you want to wait and have the last of this season’s Six Nations as the first two of next season’s?
My guess is that 6N / World Rugby will declare them 0-0 draws. The only question is whether they have the decency to do that before next weekend. |

I’m guessing the only way the 0-0 draw scenario would happen is if it is already part of the competition rules.

"What a game... shame about the last 10 minutes but plenty of great rugby. I don't think the red card was the right decision, but he was just too late to make a propper tackle.
Really enjoyed the game though and Wales played incredibly in the second half.
clear red. All day long!"
Don’t agree. If he’d not been talked then he’d have been hit squarely in the mid rift and gone out into touch at the flag with a match saving try.
The game is physical, it’s world class rugby not tap and play or football. The RFU have a late to blame for bring the level of cards to what we have know. The high tackles were around the chest but the slipped upwards as the players went down. This is how the ball is ripped. Soon we will have HSS running on the pitch with a ruler to check how high a body tackle was.... it’s becoming poor imo |

Clear red for two reasons
1 it was an illegal tackle as he made no attempt to use his arms and lead with his shoulder
2 he connected with the head of the player
What would have happened if they were both stood up is neither here nor there. Illegal plus head contact = red and Manu accepts that. Done deal |

Way I see it ... he gets a ban from playing rugby as punishment... but he’s probably not going to be playing rugby anyway in the next 10 weeks due to games being called off ... so not really a punishment ?

By cancelling the match the resulting social impact on people is far greater than the risk of the virus being spread in a 80k stadium.

Wendyball euros 2020 - postponed to 2021 - possibly allowing domestic leagues to complete.
Does rugby also focus on domestic leagues or simply finish international / European competition and write-off the domestic leagues, with All teams staying in the same league they started the season, (including Saracens )

we have an answer....
RFU call all leagues for the 19/20 season "completed" at all levels except Premiership... which means newcastle promoted to replace saracens..
Pro14 say the following criteria must be met before the league is resumed:
Public Health Authorities cease to prohibit the resumption of sport and group training
Travel restrictions between our territories are lifted
No forced isolation or quarantine orders are in force when visiting our territories
Player welfare is safeguarded, including requirement for a suitable pre-recommencement training period, to be established in conjunction with the high-performance personnel at our participating unions and teams.
showpiece "final" in cardiff due to take place june 20th cancelled... if there is a final for the 19/20 season it will be held at the highest ranked finalist...
top 14 and all european competitions suspended till further notice...
also... one other interesting story... Maro Itoje's proposed 1 yr loan deal to Racing 92 in france has been veto'd by other premiership clubs owners as the RFU wanted to use the "exceptional circumstances" clause to make sure he would still be allowed to play for England whilst in france..... |

well if your basically not really going to finish this season, and then not have the saracens players available next season, it would have felt harsh not to at least offer him an extension.....
thiss basically allows everyone a free run at the lions with no distractions...but i don't even want to talk about the lions till this stuff is out the way!
you have to assume all the summer tours will be off at this stage...... |

"I think they should redo the whole of this year’s six nations, wipe the table clean and start it again when the lockdown is finished "
so a six nations in the autumn, a six nations then after in the spring, and european and domestic rugby.... and then the lions tour...
you are trying to get the top rubgy players killed aren't you....
if your plan was to take place i'd come out of retirement about april because i think i'd be about the only person standing for the south africa trip!!! |

if restrictions are lifted by the summer, i would like to see the 6Nations played to a finish rather than the overseas tours.
Premiership winner - really not sure how they could fairly finish without playing all remaining games.
Premiership relegation - thats an easy one

My understanding is there are 4 matches left of which the last 3 would have all been played on the same Saturday so to my way of thinking the 6 nations championship could be played to a finish on two consecutive Saturdays. The big question is when as personally I can’t see any sports where fans are allowed to attend until beginning of June all been well. |
