I may not be a mum but I am a dad and I do struggle to leave them alone, I work shifts and I miss them so much when I work nights as I just don’t see them, so for me yes I can leave them for a day or two but it is hard and they are no longer tiny (both at school) so between wife and I we try to find the balance of work and play which sometimes works and sometimes means my dear wife feels like a single parent which isn’t helpful.
However with the help on grand parents (nannies as I think Op was actually referring rather than the Mary popping style nannie) we are able to sneak nights out for play and fun like tonight. We get to drop them off and go out out for the night and we will see what happens at the end of the night as to how much extra fun happens and with who. |

"I can barely leave my baby alone for a few hours, let alone a few days.
It would totally depend on the situation however. Can you give an example?
I was thinking of Harry and Megs.."
Ahh context helps.
Given how the parents feel about the media, and knowing this is their farewell tour of duties and they are going to be hounded by the media, I suspect they are trying to protect their son. In which case spending time away from him might well be the best thing for the child |

Not with a nanny no but with their dad yes. I don’t see my children for 3 days at a time with my rota with my ex but I know they are in good hands. I wouldn’t trust a nanny |

Actually it’s not that I necessarily wouldn’t trust them, it wouldn’t be fair on my children and I’d only want them being looked after by a loved one for that length of time |

I went back to work after 4 months. My son also spends 3 days a week at his dads. It means if he is being watched by someone we have no drama whatsoever. He is happy to visit other people. My sisters on the other hand go crazy when she leaves them |
