Billy Connolly is the king of standup!
The best around at the moment is tommy tiernan,
Rhod Gilbert is good
Steven wright and emo Phillips are brilliant.
Dennis Leary stole his complete act from the late bill hicks.
Did I mention tommy tiernan is the best around? |

Love Alan Carr, John Bishop, Sean Lock and a few others but cannot stand Michael McIntyre, think he was fine at first but so far up his own backside since he's become so popular, although I still find him funny just can't stand looking at his smug face, so avoid watching most times. |

"This man is hilarious... Who agrees? Or who's your favourite comedian "
He's a sweaty sod and it puts me off. I always think he would be the ideal candidate for them sure for men antiperspirant adds. I really dont know why he hasn't been signed up. |

"Don't find him funny in the slightest. Lee Mack, however is brilliant live."
I think they both have good material...but like Peter Kay,
WHY DO THEY HAVE TO SHOUT ALL THE WAY THROUGH THEIR BLOODY JOKES?????!!!!

"I saw Alan Carr at Torquay....after the first Fifteen minutes it's all same ol' same ol'.....
His whole act is based around his campness.....he has nothing else in his repertoire"
Totally agree..."Good evening everyone, my names Alan Carr Im fat and gay...goodnight."
Jo Brand was the same..."Im fat, Im ugly...goodnight"
I like a mixed bunch Stephen Wright, Chris Rock (becasue he takes the piss out of his own) Jackie Mason, (so does he) Bob Newheart..(probably one of the first observational comedians) Ben Elton (yes indeed) Bernard Manning, Ken Goodwin, and Billy Connelly and Dave Allen and Jo Caulfield.
I dont care for so called alternative comedians..alternative to what?..laughing?.. |

Billy Connolly has always been my hero, he has this natural ability to turn an observation of just about anything "normal" into something funny. |

Funnily enough I don't mind his chat show, when I was offered tickets for his live stage show I went with an open mind....I just found his act to be predictable and short on content.
Don't let it put you off though, you might enjoy the show.
He received mixed applause at the end of his show, I wouldn't say it was as loud and sustained as the applause the audience gave Lee Mack, John Bishop or even Jethro when I saw them.
