I find the forums an enjoyable place most of the time. As with everywhere there are some characters who are great, some ... well ... judge for yourself.
I have found the forums to be supportive and friendly.

Hi Op, welcome to the forum. Back to your question. I found that through interacting on the forum private conversations flowed more naturally in the back of an interesting post. A bit of flirtation or a forum game. Cold call type messaging never worked for me but the forum has led to quite a few good friendships and even more acquaintances.
I hope you keep posting and enjoy yourself.
