Yes! It works. It’s the only thing that’s worked for me (F) YouTube is a great source of info on it.

I know some people who have done it with great success the only thing they reported was you get keto flu after a couple weeks

Like any diet, it only works if you’re in a deficit.

But will being in ketosis allow the body to focus on using the fat cells storgae over muscle?

I've read about it, seems like a ball ache to me tbh. Hats off to anyone that can do that as a normal thing!

Tried it, but couldn't stay with it. However I did cut down on a lot of carbs that certainly ensured I lost some weight and I have maintained that loss, currently.

Plenty of advice online and YouTube are fantastic for recipes

Why would you want an extreme diet

Make small positive changes inc all food groups

Unless you have bomb proof will power all fad diets inc. keto will lead to yoyo ing and weight gain

Oh and I've been understanding and practicing keto for 28 years

No more than any other diet where you’re in a deficit.

If you can get past the first few weeks it's not too bad.

Why don't you try intermittent fasting.

From everyone I've read, and I know a few people who had real success with it, you'll moat likely lose weight and if that's you're only goal then maybe it's for your.

Bigger picture health wise it's one of the worst diets you can do it's consistently ranked as one of the most unhealthy diets to go on from nutritionists.

It's only got that ranking because most people that are on Keto do not know what they are doing and do not understand the bio chemistry of the human body.

But that's my whole point

Keto is an advanced nutritional strategy for those who understand it and human physiology

For average human wanting to lose just fat it is a damn awful attempt at a solution solution

Unless your mentally strong you will risk turning into a whiny girl if you don't get your daily beige.

You’re better and taking about 100 grams of carbs on training days and once a week go on a 2hr rampage and devour as much pizza and cheesecake as you can find. All things in moderation.

I, (Mr) did it and lost about 3 stone in about 5 week's, during the first week I felt crap and really emotional but after the first week felt great, didn't miss bread or sugars and no bloated feeling. Amazon does loads of books or the internet is useful.

Steak and eggs for breakfast is a great start to the day

Done it on and off for ten years and I’m still a fatty, so read in to that as you will... although that’s more about me than Keto I think, and it’s the diet I’ve had the most success with when I have stuck to it.

It works so well, and so quickly. And it’s awesome when you’ve been doing it for a few weeks and your appetite reduces.

Currently I’ve lost a stone in a month..

But it’s not for everyone!

Reddit has a great page on Keto and ketorecipes. I also recommend diet doctor for their recipes - their “bread” is a life saver.

Don’t keep protein high it’ll only cause gluconeogenesis.

Protein should be at most 1g per lb of body weight. Rest of calorie intake should be from fats.

Used it before as a way to pull myself out of months of procrastination. Went in cold turkey, first week I could not stop thinking about any kind of carb but mentally it was a great exercise in willpower. After the first week got sick but that was brief.

Lost some weight but was training at the same time so can't say how effective it was. mostly it was the bloated feeling that went tbh. I'd say do thorough research, don't see it as the 'answer' and do other things that benefit your health alongside it.

42 lbs of fat in 35 days

Very very very doubtful

Water glycogen muscle bone faeces and some fat maybe just slightly maybe but still doubt 42 lbs of anything in 35 days unless you were absolutely giant

But fat loss nah

Tried it didnt work well for me. Lost 6lbs in 1 week and nothing for the next 7 weeks.

Changed now to calorie controlled under 1500 a day. Fast for 18 hours and eat within a 6 hour window.

I've lost 13lbs in 6 weeks.

Gosh 2 lbs a week that's erm realistic

A lb a day would need a calorific deficit of 3500 cals minimum daily

I was skiing 7 hr days and burning 4500 cals

Trust me only eating 1000 cals daily would have been nigh on impossible

And if one did muscle and bonecdencity would diminish with fat

Sorry but I beg to differ.

Why would the majority of calories come from fat when it's 9 calories per gram and protein is 4.

Very hard for the body to turn protein into fat. Not impossible but very difficult.

Protein should be kept high to keep muscle mass.

Like I said everyone on the interweb is an expert.

They for yourself and adjust accordingly or find an actual dietitian

It works but it's bloody hard and not sustainable. I've taken elements of it though and incorporated it into my diet such as reducing carbs (but not extremely), increasing my protein intake and bulking out my dinners with green veg.

If you eat a surplus of anything, protein carb or fat you’ll store it as fat.

Yes i found intermittent fasting worked extremely well for me because i never really had breakfast or lunch anyway. I lost over 30 pounds in about six month or so again in a calorie deficit. Ive just started back to the gym so im on about 1500 calories myself also. think himself would faint if he only had that to eat lol

Mrs does calorie control and lost 19lbs in 3 month with exercise and has me doing the calorie control. We started it last year but took a break for few months before Christmas. Started again in the new year managed to get into my healthy BMI range so that was great. Did try low carb but didnt work for me. She is very close to hers and is doing great with it but I think it's just finding what works for you.

It does for me! Yes getting over the carb cravings takes a few days but once you do it’s pretty easy! So much tasty food to eat without sluggish inducing carbs. I’m following more of a high fat, moderate protein, low carb plan with intermittent fasting.

It's crap for powerlifting I know that, for me anyway.

I like to experiment, didn't work for me, I know some smaller guys it does work well for but their calorific needs are much lower than mine.

Spot on. I've seen it work and build muscle in high rep, TUT work but on heavy work it's absolute shite.

Aw I'm very very sorry

I see how my post could have seems like i was doubting you

If was in total support of your post

My erm realistic was being sarcastic towards some claims that absolutely are not .ie gosh a genuine loss claim xx

My post was a poor continuation of my skepticism with regards 42 lbs in 35 days

2 lbs a week is perfect and what i or any good pt wouls advocate

Sorry I seemed dismissive of your achievement
