... to fix a panel of hooks that has fallen off the wall, to paint the shed, to fix the fence, to repaint the kitchen walls, etc. etc. etc...

Easier to find traders to do all the above and more, than having to go through the hassle of finding and vetting a suitable life partner I'd say!

Until my physical health started to let me down, I was a better at 'DIY' than my ex husband any way.

Perhaps, but you can't just phone a tradesman when you need someone you can rely upon to lie about the size of your arse in that new skirt.

Even with a man about the house, I had to do all the DIY. I can plaster, plumb, minor electrics, paint, hang wallpaper. make up flat packs that stay together. My husband even had a T shirt made for me that says 'DIY DIVA' I know my limitations and either call a friend or get someone in but having a man about the house sometimes isn't all it cracks up to be. Of course, I've traded that husband in for one who is just as good, if not better than me at DIY - we only argue as to who gets to use the power drill etc lol

My EX was brilliant at DIY...just wish I'd paid more attention

It's still a great feelin' though finishing a room you thought ya'd never get done - not neccessarily perfect but still feels good

consider myself lucky really, my hubby does all those boring jobs, and helps with the housework as well.

I have a man around the house and still have to use tradesmen.

Mr B's talents unfortuntely don't stretch to D.I.Y he is dangerous with a drill or hammer etc. But is a dab hand with superglue.

Now you see I'd not say that was mis-reading the box, I'd say it's thinking out of the box.

Even if you have one around you are not guaranteed to get all that done.

No no no, don't want to have members of the fairer sex coarsened by having them do manual labour.
