Can I ask Tom, do you think members of Fab live in a void and don’t watch or listen to the news?

And maybe, just maybe, Fab is for escapism. So when they come on the forum they don’t want to see Corona as a thread, every day.

Looked in the fridge and the rest of the items in there had moved themselves to another area of the fridge, away from it, and they had a mask on.

It's very patronising to keep telling people to wake up, because it implies you have a special and superior lock on the truth. You don't, and people are woken. They're just being more rational than you about it, and they understand the media use sensationalism to sell their wares.

I'd love to see the statistics for the number of people worldwide who died putting their trousers on this last week. It's probably more than Covid-19 has claimed.

They will encourage people to follow the guidelines and give advice.

I'm all for them forcing quarantine on people that won't do it voluntarily if they are intent on putting others at risk.

Before you twist that Tom, I haven't heard that anywhere, I just think it's a good idea for the idiots that don't follow advice.

"The BBC put a special programme on this evening at 7 ~ I suggest you watch it OP.

No mention of the army getting involved.

They are..

No, they aren't. At least not in the UK. The latest news states that quarantine will be voluntary to start with then the police may become involved if people don't follow the guidelines. Military involvement would be a last resort.

Stop spreading false stories.

You are saying police

Then military ?

It is not possible to enforce quarantine on anything larger than a small hamlet. No-one has such resources, or likely the will..

And that's my point Peoples"

What's your point? Because you keep mentioning your point but never actually get there.

There are around 64 million people in Britain, some places with fairly high population densities. How on earth would you enforce quarantine? It can only be voluntary......

"It's very patronising to keep telling people to wake up, because it implies you have a special and superior lock on the truth. You don't, and people are woken. They're just being more rational than you about it, and they understand the media use sensationalism to sell their wares.

I'd love to see the statistics for the number of people worldwide who died putting their trousers on this last week. It's probably more than Covid-19 has claimed.

What about the stats for when they took their trousers off??

So what do you propose we do?

Nothing can be done so it’s pointless worrying about it.

It’s there yes but so is influenza and the common cold. SARS has gone quiet but it still exists and kills. Wash your hands after using toilet and after a wank you should be fine.

Tell you what I'm sure there are loads of people near me that are panicking the same as Tom.

There was a fight over anti bacterial hand gel in Tesco... there are people going on about marshal law in the cafe and rations

Yes it's going to get worse but I find it patronising to be told to wake up.. when I am well up to date with current figures. 40 people have it currently.. out of over 64million

So the clinician at the cancer hospital that was all over the news earlier doesnt actually have corona virus. Bet that won't have quite the same profile as the story saying he had it.

Or that while every positive and false positive (current total 40ish) is reported over 11000 have been tested and tested negative, they arent so quick to publish those figures as top story.

Mate, just give it a rest, you post about this constantly in a patronising tone telling people to “wake up” you’re not an expert on the matter and in truth nobody is, so what you are telling us is objective opinions at best, yes it may get worse, no-one knows, yes more people will die, that’s horrible, however aside from good basic hygiene there’s not much we can do. Now sit back have a glass of water and relax. Cheers

Central

This is obviously going to become a much bigger problem, affecting many more people across the world.

The unknown part is how much it can be streamined, for services to be able to cope effectively. If it is more appropriately contained, ie managed, so that infection rates don't swamp support services, its impact can obviously be lessened.

The element in the room is the extent of the impact upon the global economy. UK workers have just had their wages rise above the global recession of 2008. Another global recession could return 2020 wages down again. If China production levels stay suppressed or decline more, it could push production elsewhere downwards, affecting job levels. Central banks have limited abilities to stimulate and prop up economies now.

The recent pandemics should have been a wakeup call but we now have leaders such as Trump and Johnson who lie and have an agenda that is largely not in the interests of the majority of the population, so it's not potentially a good time for millions to suffer impactz to their wellbeing.

With authoritarian leaders, expect that they will take whatever steps they may fancy.

Chaos is always the point when authoritarianism imposes restrictions on you. Who is looking forward to that?

We know that very basic steps will substantially reduce the potential for this to infect other people. Soap and water are the key ingredients to stopping much larger volumes of people getting hit. I hope sufficiently large proportions of the population use such simple steps to cut risk levels., for example

Absolutely, Ian Curtis was a visionary and a prophet. Especially with these lines from the song itself:

Surrendered to self preservation,

From others who care for themselves.

A corona that touches perfection,

But hurts just like anything else.

Just watched the news now and it is concerning.

I'm not sure how many people have been diagnosed with corona in the UK, but no doubt there are a lot more and it will get worse before it gets better.

If I get it I have a chance of surviving but I fear for older people who. I've heard it can cause pneumonia and I know how bad that can be.

I guess it's much more than that,if we only knew.

Just said on the news that it's killed nearly 3thousand people in China.

Apparently it started from people eating bat's and it hasn't been the first disease which came from China like this.

Hopefully it will clear up soon but I wouldn't be surprised if something else comes along from China.

You never know some sort of virus could come along and wipe us all out one day.

Yeah I'm worried now.

I don’t know about the actual death rate but 3000 in China is very small compared with the actual size of the population but what they are saying is that 3000 may have died how many hundreds of thousands of contracted it and Have recovered from it ,,,

The amount of people with the virus is likely to be much higher as not everyone is going to get tested, so the death rate is likely to be lower than first predicted.

Honestly, it's really not as bad as the media are making out. Just follow any guidelines you're given and be mindful of other people.
