No it's nothing to do with current trends of shark on the forum.
It is the expression used for the exact moment/episode that a once great TV show falls from grace, the quality of the show, especially the writing takes a nose dive.
Made famous by Happy Days in which Fonzie jumps over a shark with water skies.
On the flip side of that the lesser known expression of Growing the beard marks the point in which a TV show suddenly increases in quality (again mostly the writing).
This came to be from the first episode of season 2 Star Trek TNG when a main character suddenly at the time started sporting a beard. The quality instantly picked up.
So which shows and their moments do you feel jumped the shark, and grew the beard? |

"Westworld jumped the shark in the season two finale. Broke my heart, I loved that show!
Mrs TMN x
I couldn't get in to season 2. I have up after about 3 episodes. But really enjoyed season 1"
Yes, I stuck with it because I loved the first season so much, but it didn't pay off |

Knight Rider series 4 jumped the shark with the introduction of stupid pursuit mode.
Oddly, it was the program makers effort to revive the show as viewing figures were falling |
