La la land

So living in Swansea, and we've had our first confirmed case of coronavirus, the joys!! Went to do my weekly shop to find panic buying of hand soap, with empty shelves.

Does this mean there's a lot of people out there who don't wash their hands in general

most fundamental aspects

The thing is that hand soap alone is not enough. Covid 19 is a virus, not a bacteria, so just squirting a bit of Carex on your hands won’t make as much of a difference as proper (minimum 30 seconds rubbing) hand washing.

So people would be just as well to use shower gel for their hands but wash them thoroughly

Maybe Mr Humberfloob, in The Cat In The Hat, with the sanitiser on his hip had the best solution

I went shopping yesterday and noticed stocks were down on a lot of things not just soap & cleaning products but medication, tea & coffee, loo rolls etc. Suppose some items maybe a problem to get when import slows down and if factory’s start closing to stop the spread so think some people have gone into panic.

Yeah I noticed this too, but the hand soap made me laugh. Surely everyone should be washing their hands in any case?

The only qualification to owning a firearm is acquiring a Firearm Certificate and a certificate to buy ammunition.

Using one is skill, I agree. But not a skill that takes a lot of learning. I would think most people on here could pick the basics up.

This morning I needed a few bottles of iron brew. And I noticed I was running out of hand soap and bleach as well I use them every day.

Anyway I went to Lidl and got my drink and one each of the cleaning stuff.

And a guy said I can see you panic buying ???

Right people if you are going to buy extra make sure you can eat it cold from the tin or packet. Or have bottle water in case you need it. Buy extra pet food if government says that you can't leave the house you still have pets to feed.

Packs of pita or nan breads can keep for months. Pasta is cheap if you have water to cook. But cheap tins of sardines and fruit last year's.And don't forget the snacks they can be the difference in eating to live or eating and enjoying it.

I did check my cupboards and supplies and decided that if I get a few more bits I'd be sorted for a few weeks if need be.

I'm more concerned with panic buying than the virus.. just got a big bag of rice.. big bag of pasta and a few other bits... and uht milk. As I can keep calm and face anything as long as I can have my tea x

I saw someone in the supermarket this morning with boxes of nappies. Didn’t notice anything else out of the ordinary though. Trouble is, even mentioning it can help create panic. Like the tuppence in Mary Poppins.

I think the main problem with all this is that everyone is learning about it as they go along. As a result we're getting varied information and none of it can be 100% trusted as accurate.
