so......there is some moaingin going on about the FA cup moving to a 5:15pm start time.
Traditionally it has been 3pm, but after 'consultation' with fans and clubs this year it will be 5:15pm. the reason being that this will give people time to do their saturday things, shopping, playing in local games etc and then watch the match.
some are moaning that this is more to do wth bowing to TV companies demands but surely the clubs receive money on the back of TV deals, therefor the more people that watch it the more money the clubs get and the more money the primadonna players get paid |

Newcastle and Gateshead |
thats the excuse they give... in reality it means because of the euros a 3pm KO would clash with the final day in div 1 and 2... and a 8pm KO would mean no britains got talent.....

Plus all the swinging footie fans would have the dilemna of watching what will probably be a dull game - or getting their end away!
Although i'm sure there'll be no end of guys wanting their girlfriends/wives to chuck on a footie shirt for the occasion and suck on something other than oranges at half time! |

Why can't a football thread be about football without the word 'primadonna' being used. If that's how someone feels about football then why comment on it.
Football is what it is and the players get whatever deal their agents can swing for them. Who here would turn around to their boss and say, "No boss, you keep it, £50k a week is far too much." |

As for the point raised in the OP, I am a traditionalist and believe the FA Cup should always kick off at 3pm on a Saturday after all 4 leagues have concluded.
It was do-able 30 years ago and I see no reason why it isn't do-able today when there are approximately the same amount of teams in each league now as there was then. (Although I am willing to be corrected on that) |

What you see as primadonna behaviour, I view as cheating. That's what Fifa should be stamping out on and it's something I've noticed it has become quite endemic in the English game since we started importing foreign players. (and no I'm not being racist - the Italians are infamous for it) |

Unless its Drogba breaking up Barca's rhythm by constantly falling over..Then it's a game plan. And an effective one at that
BTW what have Messi,Ronaldo and Liverpool FC got in common?
They've all scored 43 league goals this season |

well the main reason is advertising itv show adverts every 5 bleeding minutes on tv from 3pm till 8 pm every chance to hook some high payers knowing a big audience are watching
its all to do with that itv would not care if wycome wonderes were playing acrington stanley in final today it would still kick off at 5 15 |

If 'fans' had been consulted, the season would finish this weekend, and cup final would be 3pm next sat. It is totally for tv, and would be 8pm , if voice/bgt weren't on. |

The TV went fuzzy while Rob was watching footie a couple of weeks ago
He gave it a whack on the side and Drogba fell over! |
