Stay up late enough to watch the Rockford Files. I was allowed to listen to the theme tune but then it was bedtime.
A few years ago they were showing it on one of the freeview channels and I made a point of watching it. What a load of bollocks. I spent years desperate to watch it and it was shit. |

I wasn't allowed to play with any war toys like toy soldiers/guns or pretend doctors kits if they had syringes in them. I think they were pretty fair rules though. |

Isn't it funny. Because we were a big family mum used to cut Mars bars in half and give us half each. All of us couldn't wait to grow up to buy and eat a whole mars bar. Oddly though I wasn't that bothered when I actually could |

Exact same situation, except with Cops. It looked so good. It wasn't. |

That's pretty much all my childhood was playing army with cap guns and building airfix models. No wonder I ended up in the forces
I wasn't allowed to stay out too late especially during term time, even up to being around 15/16 I'd still get a bollocking if I was home later than 10pm! Camping out with friends was always a good excuse to stay up all night though, and for my first snogging experiences playing spin the bottle when girls joined us |

If a film got too raunchy my mum used to cover my eyes with one hand until the scene was over,
or tell me it was time for me to go to bed.
I knew what it was she didn't want me to see.

"I wasn't allowed a Mr Frosty machine
Aww me either gutted
None of you missed out too much !!! They were crap
But the box declared hours of fun"
Shit grater bounced right off the ice cubes taking your knuckles with it. You ended up with sherbet covered ice cubes that were deeply unpleasant and a bit bloody. |

I wasn't allowed to eat sticky sweets, drink fizzy pop or eat sugary cereal. Hated it at the time, but appreciate the fact that I have zero fillings or other dental interventions at the age of 34. I'm pretty strict with my own kids and the 17yo similarly has no fillings..... |

On doctors orders I wasn't allowed anything with E102 in it either (holiday rock and limeade being the main ones I remember) as I was a pretty wild kid! I'd have probably been medicated nowadays |

"The only thing I remember that I wasn’t allowed to do was leave the table until everyone had finished and I’d eaten everything of my plate "
I had that rule too, my dad was a proper table manners tyrant as well, I always hated the meals where we had to sit at the table being shouted at for holding the fork wrong or whatever. On the plus side it stuck with me and I do have good table manners as an adult. |

I wasn’t allowed to have the heating on because ‘I’m not paying to heat a wardrobe full of unused jumpers’
I wasn’t allowed to leave a light on if I wasn’t in it because ‘why is the house lit up like a Christmas tree’
I wasn’t allowed to have the front door open for more than 0.3 seconds because ‘IN OR OUT’
|

Christ that was rather harsh. I was in the Tucker Jenkins (Todd Carty) fan club and wrote him love letter. |

Play out until I was in secondary school.
Make much noise.
Leave the dinner table without asking (even though there was rarely an adult present at the bastard thing)
Go in my parents room (although I did to look out the window most nights for my dad getting home from work)
Have friends round until I was in secondary school apart from 1 girl who lived round the corner.

Same, I still would never swear in front of my parents , if I do I always apologise. Same with my children, I think it’s respectful. X |

"Wasn’t allowed to drink tea. Probably why I hate the stuff.
God, I was practically force fed it! That's why I don't drink it now "
So was I. My Mum was (and still is) a sweet little woman who bustles around making everyone a fresh cup about every 30-40 minutes, a bit like Mrs Doyle from Father Ted.
Conversely, I love the stuff!

As a young teen, I was the tea slave. Every commercial break or whatever, it was "N, put the kettle on please" aka make tea for everyone too! |
