You are in a pub and overhear the person above you telling the barman they have no money but are thirsty and hungry

would you offer to buy them,

a drink

bag of crisps

meal

or anything they dam well wanted

or ignore !

in a pub, ignore but there are other circumstances where I may buy them something to eat and a cuppa but certainly not alcohol.

Depends. Does the person look genuinely skint or are they on the take? There was a guy who used to go in a pub I use, buy one cheap drink then spend the rest of the time scrounging drinks off people.

Depends on who it was ....

Some people try it on and get a lot for free !!!

Some are genuinely down on their luck .. homeless .. etc and in that case I would yes. But no beer !!!

There is a homeless man in town I give him money and always make him promise me that he will buy a sandwich and hot drink. Whether he does it ... I don't

i agree with that, i wont give homeless people money but i have many times been and bought them food, and for their dog if they have one, but in a pub!! nah

Same here. Have given money a few times to people, (one a mother with child in a pushchair, wanting some milk, others for 'bus-fare' home). ALL have come out of the shop with alcohol. Last time someone asked, brought him out a Big Mac & coffee.

when i lived in blackppol there was this guy who wore a army coat long beard looked dirty begging , on some days hed be in preston as well one day i saw him leave and get in a mercedes brand new and drive off ...... i learnt my lesson that day !!
