I like gin to taste like gin, not like an alco pop and unfortunately many of the new ones are just fruit drinks.

Tanquerry Martin Millers, Bombay sapphire , Plymouth dry are nice gins. But in the end it’s just personal preference that counts. If you like it then it’s good.

Standard gin has to be portabello road with fresh pink grapefruit peel in.

Flavoured gin is Slingsby’s Rhubarb gin, but their limited edition marmalade one is exceptional. Stocked up at the Spirit of Harrogate shop last time I was there

Depends what your preferred flavour profile is. I like the peppery kick of Caorunn, if I'm after floral then I want the citrus hit but lavender aftertaste of Brooklyn Gin.

My personal favourite is Tappers Darkside - it's a woody herbal, earthy gin and really suits a herbal tonic and a bit of thyme or rosemary.

Brooklyn is our fave... Steel River Stainsby Girl (local to us too & hand delivered by the owner Jay B ) and Gin Mare comes a close second & third.

We probably have at least 50 bottles on our gin shelf at the moment

Other nice gins, I’ll just name a few.... Monkey 47, Brockmans, Kirkjuvagr Orkney Gin... For flavoured gins Xolato X Gin (chocolate, sounds wrong, but it works!) & Sharish colour changing from Portugal...

The legal definition of gin is that the predominant flavour must be Juniper so most of these flavoured "gins" are actually just flavoured vodka which is what gin is in itself

We make our own gin from wheat, triple distilled, the last through Juniper, a tiny bit of coriander and some orange and lemon peel, Schweppes tonic, ice and a slice... Lovely
