I'm suspicious of the prepacked cut salad bags and the potential for lack of cleanliness, with bugs breeding.
It's easy to grow a lot of leafy salad greens and at least you can cut fresh and clean. I don't know how easy it is to pick up this virus from growing salads but I'm assuming that poor hygiene in harvest and packing is a bigger risk. |

https://news.sky.com/story/uk-food-poisoning-cases-double-as-takeaways-eating-out-and-lettuce-are-blamed-11939352
Once again our resident scaremongerer is only giving you half a story!
No change in the advice given by the FSA....it's more aimed at the food establishments and their food safety practices.
Take away is accountable for 26% of reported cases.
It is open head lettuces, so the iceberg on your kebab is ok |

I think Jammy Dodgers only carry the risk of a mild cold, if that helps? |

"Would deep frying the lettuce in batter kill any viruses "
I am not sure but I would think if you tried it in tempura batter it would be hot enough. I think the crispy fried sea from my local takeaway is actually cabbage but not sure |

"I'm confused. Has lettuce been linked to Norovirus or food poisoning?
I mean either way, I'm not going to avoid it or change my practices, I'm just curious."
I think it's salad in general. It's on the BBC website I think. It's more about takeaways and eating out |
