I was once told that if your brand new car has multiple issues within the first year you are entitled to return it and get your money back, does anyone know if this is true?

It's only up to the first six months from the date of purchase, but certain parts will still be covered by the warranty

Easier to give me your address and I'll just steal it and burn it out.

Insurance will get you a brand new one then

Do you know what the multiple issues are?

They left it too long to return it,If all the problems have been fixed then they will just have to live with it or sell it as soon as they can

The brakes is pretty major! Sounds like a firmware problem the first Leafs had on some units. I would tell your friend to speak directly to Nissan if currently only speaking with the dealership and maybe seek legal advice. If it's happened to other people then there might be a case to get their money back.

All issues were reported with the first 4 months of ownership, it just took the dealer that long to find the problem and then get parts to fix

If your friend accepted a fixed car bit has now decided he'd like to return it for his money back then I think he might be out of luck as it is now past 6 months.

It changed in 2015 and is now covered by the consumers rights act, if it goes wrong within the first 30 days of ownership, you can simply reject it out of hand for a full refund. If a fault develops after those 30 days but within the first six months, the dealer gets one chance to fix it. If they fail to do this, you’re entitled to a full refund, or a partial refund after the use you’ve had of the car has been taken into account.

Its nothing to do with the guarantee

Its within your statutory rights to return any items if faulty
