Just been quoted £2300 for 29.4m of replacement fencing in my garden. Wooden boards and posts.

I nearly fell over

Is that really how much a fencing job costs

If so I really didn’t expect that

There and to the left a bit

Had 3 panels and a new back gate all with new concrete posts, plus a small (4 square foot) piece of decking and some wooden steps replaced and a small bit of brickwork for £1500 last year - can't remember the itemised price for the fencing but was the bulk of the cost

7 posts

5 fence panels

8-9 bags postcrete

1 day

For basic fence

Your better off having slats on two or three horizontal beams staggered same front and back so you can’t see through, but the wind gets through, less resistance thus last longer

I think it's called a 'foil'. Maybe a rapier. Sabres are more for chopping off limbs rather than prodding people in the ribs. Quite good for swashbuckling and Derring-do also.

Its definitely not extortionate. Its always difficult to compare because there are so many variables. Every job is different as are the rates in different parts of the country.

It can be very sharp, that's why you are supposed to take it off the pie before stuffing it in your face

My friend owns his own fencing company. He's not far from you (Coventry). Don't think I'm allowed to give the name though. I'm sure he wouldn't charge that!! X
