Hopefully that got your attention
A year ago today I had a routine operation that sadly went pretty tits up in a few ways.
One part of the problem was that I then needed a 5 unit blood transfusion (that’s a hell of a lot!) - once you have had a blood transfusion you are unable to ever donate to anyone else.
The problem is I REALLY can’t stop thinking about it, particularly today, a year later. 5 really special people took their time and effort to help save a life... and they’ll probably never even know.
If you already do it I can’t say THANKYOU enough. If you don’t.... go take a look and see if you can.
I hope none of you ever need it back. God bless and THANKYOU |

Seconded, I had a blood transfusion as a baby and I'd probably be dead without it.
I wish I could donate, but like you, now I never can.
Thanks to those that do. |

"I’ve had a lot of blood transfusions and I feel the same way...Even tho I can’t give blood I try to get as many people I know to donate cos without it I wouldn’t be here x"
Really gets to your spirit doesn’t it when you know you can’t give back. Glad you’re better xx |

I’ve donated about 20 units over my lifetime so far. I’m donating my next unit on Thursday and as and when the van comes round and I’m available I always make an effort. I’m ‘O’ neg so always in demand. |

I think about this a lot. I've had 3 transfusions in my life. The first was just before I turned 8. I had my tonsils removed because they were so big I couldn't breathe. 9 days later I was almost dead. I'd lost so much blood they had no idea how I survived.
The thing that hits me is that I have the rarest blood type. Less than 1% of the population have it. It's insane to think how many people I owe my life to.
Now I can pass it on. Because of this group and the fact I've had transfusions there is a chance I can have something called rhesus null blood. It's incredibly rare but they use it to make antiD vaccines. It's used in mother's so their body doesn't attack their baby. I could potentially save countless babies lives so fingers crossed I have it!
