Yeah, but rarely anything too straight forward. Need an interesting angle on it. Postrock. Mathrock. Noisy things that make you listen to the track, not just hear it. |

Tis a cracker. Only just got into rush on the last few years. And (of course...?) almost nothing post Grace Under Fire. Outside of never having gotten to see them live, I think I'm almost grateful to have not known their later albums new, as they'd have been to disappointing compared to their hayday. |

Behemoth have only a couple of decent albums. Their earlier Black Metal stuff from the 90s, including the demos, are far better than what they became. Nergal has now jumpped on the neo folk/Goth bandwagon with Me and That Man. Not brilliant but some old friends of mine are on it. |

Brutal Death, Grind and Doom primarily but obviously love my Maiden, Pantera and all the other essential loveliness. |

I have to vote for “Symbolic” personally. If you want the more raw stuff give Scream Bloody Gore a listen but if you prefer the later stuff give the last album The Sound of Perseverance a go. The vocals can be difficult to get into as Chuck’s Throat Cancer really affected his vocals on that album but the guitar tone, riffs and lead are beyond immense! Symbolic will forever be my favourite though! |

Reply privately (closed, thread got too big) | |
Heck yes. I'm a little more metal than rock, but love both. Not a fan of most prog-rock, but I'll listen to most anything else. Volbeat is my current favourite.
My music taste is very eclectic though, I'll happily listen to a playlist that mixes Marilyn Manson, Josh Groban, and Boyzone. |

I almost missed Zimmers Hole coz my mate never showed up with my ticket. Had to blag on off the tout for face value. My mate never aplogised, never told me why and insisted I still owed him for the ticket. Gave him a swift go fuck yourself. My mate did the exact oppsite to me once. I got him a fear factory ticket and he said he would pay me when we met to go to the gig. He never showed, and I gave him the ticket in good faith, so I couldn't just palm the spare off to a tout. Was still a good gig though, back in 98,when obsolete was fresh off the shelf |

Definitely played all hail the new flesh but that one was back in 2006 so my memory is a little hazy
One of the best and heaviest gigs I ever went to was Zimmers Hole, Devin Townsend band and SYL. Formed a new band with some friends that night. Stayed together for about three years, only played two gigs though.
Christ that is going back. That was when both syl and accelerated evolution were released. I left the gig at Bradford Rios giddy and with hands full of merch
I almost missed Zimmers Hole coz my mate never showed up with my ticket. Had to blag on off the tout for face value. My mate never aplogised, never told me why and insisted I still owed him for the ticket. Gave him a swift go fuck yourself. I got so close to Devin that night I could see right down his throat and got covered in his malting hair. Good ole days
My mate did the exact oppsite to me once. I got him a fear factory ticket and he said he would pay me when we met to go to the gig. He never showed, and I gave him the ticket in good faith, so I couldn't just palm the spare off to a tout. Was still a good gig though, back in 98,when obsolete was fresh off the shelf"
Saw them twice on that tour. Once at the London Astoria (RIP) then again at Ozzfest. Seen them a few times thinking about it. Last time must have been around 2010 when Mechanize came out. |

I went off them when digimortal came out. I just felt they lost their edge, and I was slowly leaning more towards syl at that point. I found Burtons voice was starting to go by that tour too. I hear his voice is ropey as fuck now |

I don't think there's a single album that he's made that I dislike. I did think that he was sticking to the 'Addicted' formula - then he pulls 'Empath' on us! |

Empath is possibly one of the most split personality albums I have ever heard. It's all over the place. But he does what he got to do, mostly to prove it to himself. He's said he doesn't like changing his style, even though he's done it probably four times now |

They bought it back with Mechanize coz most of their were shit after Demanufacture. Had both Byron and Gene from SYL for the rhythm section which really pushed the heavy. Agree with you about Burton. Unfortunately singing like that takes it toll. Takes me a couple of days to warm up if I'm doing anything like. Spend more time coughing. |

I love Rock n Metal. Go to lots of festivals in UK and Europe and lots of London gigs. Quite liking more extreme metal currently...Black Metal especially.
Often go to London gigs on my own as dont know anyone locally to go with.
Would be awesome if there's any rock n metal ladies on here who wanna be my gig buddy, or who fancy inviting me over for a rock night |

Was at a benefit gig for the Cardiacs a few years back. One of them decided to pick a fight with me and my bass player. The rest of the band and their wives/girlfriends got involved ober something that was no ones business. Never been able to look at them the same since. |
