Two questions:

1. Is it, moisturiser AND primer; or Moisturiser OR primer? (Why, if you have the time)

2. Fixing spray: any good?

Thanks,

Sylv x

Moisturiser then primer, concealer then a really good foundation.

Never used a setting spray, I've always used powder.

Are you talking about 2 in 1s or combination ones?

I don't use fixing spray as my skin just does not like it.

Depends on your skin type.

I don't use primer or setting spray. Use powder but my skin is dry and I like my foundation to look dewy

I moisturize then do other things while it's soaking in them when I do my make up it's primer then foundation. I prefer setting spray to powder though I use some powder under my eyes and round my nose.

You can make your own setting spray with less crap than what most companies use in them. But urban decays setting spray is so good.

Always moisturiser, although save eye cream for night, not on when you've got makeup on. Primer, may help smooth skin surface for makeup application and blur concerns like pores or fine lines, plus may help makeup stay on longer, but is optional. (I personally only habitually use eyeshadow primer)

Setting spray not compulsory but may help, Urban Decay excellent but expensive.

At the moment it No7 instant radiance.

It's a pen brush type and works well.

Its covered over with Estee Lauder double wear so it has no chance of showing through anyway

Thanks Sophie, I'll investigate. Never used concealer before, I tend to just blend different foundation shades after using primer then powder the fuck out of it!

Haven't even heard of fixing sprays until tonight so another thing I'll look into.

Yes definitely true

Fixing spray is great for night outs when you tend to sweat more

Powder and foundation , if used wrongly, can enhance fine lines/wrinkles.

I use one called veil. It's really light but covers imperfections and is waterproof. You can only get it online or on prescription though. So I'm not much help.

Find one that matches your skin colour, has a finish you like, coverage you like, and you don't hate wearing (Double Wear is supposed to be amazing but I couldn't bear how heavy it was when I tried it).

I wear Boots No 7 and love it, but they happen to have an awesome match for my skin tone.

The foundation I'm loving is by Juvia' s Place, but I also have Dior airflash spray foundation which is lovely. I am also a highlighter fan and have quite a few from Jeffree Star which are so pigmented and give a gorgeous glow.

I don't think anything will truly last 24 hours. Depends on a number of factors. Primer, powder, blotting, setting spray will all help.

They should make that part of the advertising to be honest if they want to sell lipstick properly.

(Whatever company does this will make billions).

Northampton Somewhere

There's a brilliant thread somewhere with make up tips on.

But to answer your question I moisturise then use double wear foundation. If you go to a larger Boots store they do the shade match service. Then I use concealer.

After looking at the thread I mentioned I'm thinking of trying the urban decay foundation.

Never used a setting spray.

Hefty Hideaway

A good light day cream

Primer on the T zone and dabbed lightly under eye

Light concealer where it's needed

Max Factor pan stick dabbed very lightly over the whole face then finish with a very light brush of liquid foundation and powder to set.

Crikey it's a palaver isn't it?

Oh I learned the hard way. Flakey foundation is just the worst. Light dabs with the ring finger and it should push it's way into the skin in a way that it doesn't crease into lines and the effect is generally good. Effort though when I'd rather trowel and go haha!

Always moisturiser first and allow it to soak in for a few minutes.

"Primer" for me is NYX poe filler and No7 concealer, before applying Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation and finishing off with Double Wear powder to set it.

Bronzer and/or blusher as required on top of this.
