Well, our plastic bins take metal items too and I would class that little tab as foil so I've always put it in with the recycling. |

First thing I though of when reading...my cat was just as obsessed with them we would also find dozens under the sofa |

Normal bin, along with everything else.
Our local authority makes sorting and prepping recycling stuff such a palaver we gave up entirely a few years back. |
