Haven't seen that one. We're very interested in seeing The Parasite. One of my favourite films is the Italian film Il Postino.

If you're into foreign movies then check out the original South Korean Oldboy. It'll keep you guessing, wonderful film. As is his follow-up Sympathy for Lady Vengeance.

Enjoy.

These are great movies. The cinematography in sympathy for lady vengeance is just awesome. So underrated.

Absolutely brutal movies though.

I adore foreign films, prefer them with subs too as dubbed spoils it.

There are some brilliant foreign films

Rec

Battle Royal

Timecrimes

The Raid

To mention a small few

The original Oldboy is brilliant. I really should watch it again

The Raid 1 and 2 are probably my favourite action movies ever made.

The kitchen scene at the end of Raid 2 is the best hand to hand fight sequence ever made!

On a mooch

Tell no one - French movie a doctor who has slowly been putting his life back together after his wife was murdered by a serial killer. Eight years later he finds himself implicated in a double homicide, which has plenty of evidence pointing to him as the killer – though he knows nothing of the crimes.

The Lives of Others - German film, about the Stasi in East Germany before the wall came down

Have to agree with the original Oldboy, its brilliant.

The Hunt was another good one, a bit slow, made me feel a little uncomfortable.

Any budding writers out there should watch movies and tv shows with the English language subtitles on. Gives you an idea on writing tight dialogue and reinforces how little you need to write to create tension etc.

I once had the script of fight club, with scteen/play directions.. Now that was an excersize in writing economy.. Brilliantly done

I do love zombie films (because they are shit and daft) and this is up there with my favourites.

It's also the only film I cry at.

Bit at end. I wont say what.

Occasionally I wish all films had subtitles, as I sometimes find the sound effects drowns out the dialogue.

Have a thought for the poor subtitlers! It takes an hour to do 3-5 mins of film. I'm currently working to a deadline on an Iranian feature. Goddam!!

Foreign films are miles better than the mainstream western ones. You should see the quality of the films not bought to screen in the UK as they don't think they'll be "blockbusters". Scandalous! No wonder cinema audiences are dropping.
