Help! I can't stop designing my own tattoos!

Jump to: Newest in thread

To elaborate. I am an apprentice. Spending as much time as possible drawing and creating original designs.

Only problem is I end up wanting 90% of what I draw for myself

I do plan to be around 70/80% covered but I really need to stop designing things I want to keep for my own skin.

So if you could help me out with some ideas/ inspiration it'd be much appreciated!

Talk to friends and family that like tattoos. Get their ideas on what kind of art they would like on their body. Use that to influence your creativity and designs.

It could also be a good way to secure future clients for when you start out!

Most of what I have is neo traditional stuff. Not opposed to other styles, tho I do prefer big bold lines and bright colours for my own tats.

Sounds like a pretty cool idea!

I already have designs ready for a few friends and my dad. I'm at the point where I'm tattooing but sticking to friends for practice and not charging til I've at least a year of solid tattooing under my belt.

yeah there

If you find the designing fun and relaxing recreationally ask and I'm sure loads on here would ask for help? Even if they never make it to ink it'll build you a huge portfolio of ideas that may not always be your taste but gives more depth.

And yup, I do have one I want designing but not an artistic bone in my body to do it myself

That's what I thought!

I think it's the same for most people. They have an idea but can't put it onto paper. Luckily I love the design process as much as actually tattooing.
