Dump it on the governments doorstep so that they set up a constructive infrastructure to recycle it, we really are the worst in Europe, and possibly the worst in the developed world.
Until something new that has the same practical and cost effective uses is invented we WILL all use plastic everyday.
Plastic is not a problem, it's what we do with it after we use it that's the issue. |

"Why can’t it be melted down and turned into fence posts or even fence panels. Sturdy and won’t rot in our damp climate, then leaves the trees where they need to be "
Depends on the type of plastic. Some plastics can't be reused.
You can get UPVC fence panels I'm sure |

You can't just melt it in a big pot, whatever it is used for it still needs separating into its plastic type and contaminants removing.
But SO many uses once it is separated. |

"Turn it into 1 big plastic bag so we had somewhere to put all the rubbish"
There are places in the world already doing this...brilliant idea! Hope other communities and governments catch on and do the same!

"Why not just pass a law using just one plastic. No separating and %100 recycling "
The word "plasic" covers a multitude of materials, diffrent plastics have diffrent propertys and diffrent uses.
Already guide lines in place to try and make all food packaging in one type of polymer, but still not as easy as it sounds. |

Aye I was simplifying, for those that can be reused, we should be putting it to good use. The rest, in my opinion, shouldn’t be used if we can’t destroy it or reuse it. |

"I’d turn them in to vibrators !! You might not save the world but you would at least have a smile on your face and feel better!!! "
Make it into insulation to keep people warm and to save on bills. |

You have a good point but every plastic can be reused, but the UK has no constructive infrastructure for recycling.
We import recycled polymer to make items but dump our own plastics in land fills.
And yes (sadly) I am a polymer specialist working in lab's to refine usages .
I need to get back to slutty fab fun !!!! |

"Create one huge mountain of shame, a monument to never go there again."
Plastic bottles would stretch to the moon and back
We should be using other materials that don't degrade to polluting materials and preferably using each item many times over. Shops are the outlets that deliver plastics to consumers, so should be a place where we can buy the amounts of goods that we want, filling our multi-use materials. This probably calls for more government control, via law and taxes, making retailers pay big taxes for all plastic containers.
Certainly now we should only be using recyclable materials that are fully labelled - many don't have clear labelling. Whilst some can be burnt to provide power, this still creates pollution and greater heating.
Housing materials are a clear requirement and a priority focus should be for the homeless. |
