For those still plugging away, how's it going?

My weight seems to be heading down a little, muscles steady or increasing slightly. Big cardio gains recently, a lot closer to some of my strength goals. Tweaking around the edges. Really happy in myself, which is where I want to be.

My weight loss is going... okay. Not as fast as I'd like, only about 1-1.5 lbs per week if I'm lucky. But myfitnesspal is helping me keep track of what I'm eating and motivating me to stay within the limit which is always useful.

That's a healthy amount for most people, particularly women. Don't rush it, you don't want too much muscle loss.

I've lost less than a stone in a year, but it's been recomp. Trying to ignore the scale and my preconceived ideas on BMI. They mean nothing when you throw muscle into it.

Oh definitely, disability changes things a lot. Just one of those things where you do the best you can with what you've got. (Sometimes my mental health leads my diet less of the garden path and more off a cliff )

Maybe you should calorie count, too? Look at your intake?

Muscle gain, if you can (requires a calorie surplus and sufficient protein) might help you gain more shape if that's what you're worried about (I'm not saying your body lacks it, I'm talking in general terms). Women are often so afraid of "bulking", but that's fucking hard to do without testosterone like guys have. (Even for them it isn't all that easy)

Woh seriously your loss rate is perfect

To lose more than 500 g of FAT per week is tough

That's a 500 cal deficit every day

I suggest healthy scepticism when you hear larger figures

My current goal is lose one kg body fat maybe 1500 g and add 2 kg in total body weight I anticipate 6 to 9 months xxx

"I have very slow weight loss but have gained a lot of upper body muscle and lost some fat. My mobility situation reduces my ch of substantial weight loss "

That’s a real challenge , puts all the work onto diet but tbh most significant weight loss comes from changes to attitude to food and alcohol not cardio, although being inactive can demotivate you and you end up overeating / drinking

Make smaller goals in the meantime. 1-2lb a week, or, more vegetables, or, more exercise. Long term sustainable change comes from umpteen little habit changes.

I’ve lost over two stone since end of September mainly by cutting down on snacks. I walk a lot for exercise and try to get to the gym at least once a week

This. For me it was fixing my sleep pattern. Then I wasn't so tired, so I was more likely to go to the gym. Once I was actually going, the next thing was increasing the number of times I went, then adding in some HIIT sessions between gym visits to mix it up a bit. Start small and build up gradually.

You NEED a six month diet brake and eat for maintenance then reboot

You need to remember as your weight has dropped so has your Basel metabolic rate

Thus your maintaining cals will be lower

A total of over 17 stone weight loss in the last 6 years and that's very minimal exercising, mainly due to the fact I was told I had a year to live. Scared the hell out of me and was the wake up call that I needed. No way was I going to leave my children without a mum. Was all done through what I ate and drank, very hard going and I would often fall off the wagon but my before pics was all the motivation that I needed to get myself back on target and one day at a time I could see a difference in myself and I've lived to tell my story.

If you're are a true 1200 and 600 cal are carb then you are only eating 30 g fat and 70g ish p you will need MORE fat for correct hormonal balance

I’m pretty pleased with my results. Although I’ve been doing mine for about 4 months now.

I’m 16lbs down, I’ve lost 2-3inches from my waist.(I’m pleased to have to tighten my belt a few notches more than I use to)

Calorie counting, rebalancing my diet following a health dip, and hitting a minimum of 5k steps in addition to my other daily activities has been positive. Hopefully back in the gym by next month.

reps/kgs what would you be suggesting?

Not till you tell me what you are doing

And 1200 seems too low I doubt you're sticking to it honestly and you need to know the grams

If you're are a true 1200 and 600 cal are carb then you are only eating 30 g fat and 70g ish p you will need MORE fat for correct hormonal balance "

yes I am sticking to 1200.

there's stuff I don't want to put on forum

My weight has crept up a little the last 3 weeks with being on a deload and little gym activity.

All part of the plan.

Currently 112kg

In 13 weeks I'll be 109-110kg, I'll have dropped a few percent in body fat and gained around 2kg muscle.

Macros 240g protein, 560g carbs, 110g fat, 4200 calories a day.

Moving in the right direction.

I’m not tracking what I’m eating, but I’m making the effort to cook, rather than just think ‘it’s late, I’ll grab something or have some toast’.

Training more and have last week acquired a 20kg vest, which is enhancing the challenge in a satisfactory manner. Just got to keep going.

What was ironic about that?

I've lost so much from my boobs it's untrue. I believe chest work is making them perkier. (I may or may not do pec dances sometimes )

You do know the meaning of the word ‘irony’?

Ha, I'd love to see that! Oh mine are 46 years old and have breastfed two babies so I don't think chest work would make much difference now. Ho hum

I managed to gain a few kilos in January but have managed to get rid of most of them. I do really want to start getting a bit more active but the cold/damp/wet weather really dampens my enthusiasm for getting out/about.

Angel you dafty ( ment in a most friendly manner)

You seem to have totally misunderstood (fair enough) . But removed all chance to articulate my reasoning

I literally have no problem with you ! Zero Nada

There are hundreds of profiles called angel eyes I had not been on fab forums and your profile showed up as 2 week new one

" Hmm thought i i wonder if that angel from the forums if so i wont block her as i would any other new profile that pops into my searches and after reading i doubt we will meet "

I'll ask

I have zero negatives towards you as a person and would not want to block a nice forumite in case we ever wanted to exchange a non sexual PM regarding any future forum topic also noce for a forite to see my profile it may be related to a post

Was just a shame you did not feel you could ask me for details directly

Also a shame I did not pop onto forum and discover the answer myself

Hey ho

over there by that tree

Haha ok - so the cheeky trainers at the gym need to go back to school as their maths skills are terrible!

Bumped into the nutritionist this morning and spoke to her about the whole body fat calculation I was given... she had a little chuckle and redid them for me - I’m coming out at 19% which is massively above what I was previously told.

Time to dig a little deeper!

Body fat percentage is a bloody minefield and difficult to get right.

I'm accepting I'm never getting a six pack

Nothing is impossible. I have cut out most of the sugar now as I am getting ready for the summer.

I think given my current body composition and estimated body fat, the way I carry weight would make it difficult. My abs are quite strong, but my limbs are lean and I carry my body fat mostly in my torso.

That could be right and it is good that your abs are strong too

I find myself really noticing arm and shoulder definition now. It's awful

Mine is ok for a woman, work in progress etc. But I'm very much getting a feel for what arms and shoulders look like where both men and women work out the way I do.

Eyes on your own weights, Swing...
