I see there has been an interview with Finn Russel today where he admits he dosnt get on with Townsend and dosnt agree with the teams tatics and coaching. More or less says he aint coming back while Townsend in charge

Have you ever been to a basketball game? When the away side take a penalty, the whole stadium appears encouraged to shout and jeer to put the shooter off, whereas, if a home team member takes a penalty, it’s silence......

I agree the booing is unsporting, and really not in the spirit of rugby, but feel the penalty taker will either not notice it, or use it to ‘stick one in their eye’

I have read snippets on bbc sport website and not read full article yet. I think it will depend if any other players have the same opinion which Finn hints at. If Scotland dont produce any results in this 6 nations then im sure Townsend will be gone. I’ve enjoyed watching Italy today, some moments of speed and brilliant moves, France nodded off after half time and looked like they were slipping back to their old way, very enjoyable watch

anyway... the weird thing about the finn russell interview is that remember gregor has basically been his coach for the last 7 years between glasgow and scotland... so for him to come out and say he has no relationship with him sounds really odd

so if russell doesn't play for scotland , which is what he is alluding to you also put gatland in an awkward position with regards to lions consideration....

I don’t understand where the South African connection with the NH competition has come from ... SA play in the Rugby Championship with NZ Aus and Arg..

Adding 2 SA teams to the pro12(14) hasn’t really done much, has it?

Is the suggestion of SA being added to 6N come about as a back door attempt at getting into this much loved tournament after the initial failed attempt by the men in suits/with money to take over the commercialism of the tournament ?

a few things here...

a) South Africa would work "timezone wise"... only 2 hrs ahead of the uk/ireland and 1hr ahead of france/italy.. so would work for TV (whereas travelling to new zealand/australia/argentina is actually much more travel than a "7 nations would be)

if SA were to move...the logical step would be for japan to move into the championship (plus if they were really being ambitious a potential joint pacific island team of tonga/samoa/fiji.... or all 3 to create a southern hemisphere 7 nations (which also would mean australia/new zealand could scoop up all pacific island talent)

b) SA in the pro 14.... remember it the 2 worst SA provinces! (free state play in both... but 1st play super rugby, 2nds play top 14).... other thing may be use the super provinces for ERC only! and go back to using the Currie cup for domestic championship

When I lived around Twickers I used to get to see all the Internationnals and have seen Eng V Ireland 4 times I think. Best memory was when there was standing tickets in the corner and you couldn’t see a thing. Just loads of hips flasks being passed around. enjoy! Do love the Irish game
