"Queen
James Brown's last gig in London...I had tickets but had to work late, so didn't make it. That one still hurts.
Herbie Hancock"
Herbie is still around so that's still possible. I saw him a few years ago at the North Sea Jazz Festival. He did a monster performance if Chameleon. |

Sonic youth are the one band I really have no excuse for having never seen.
Then there's a wish list of bands I could never have seen due to my age but would have loved to - The Clash (have seen Strummer and Jobes do Clash songs though so got as near to it as I ever could have), The Smiths, Joy Division and Housemartins |

There and to the left a bit |
Actually while I did get to see them twice (once their first ever live outing where they played 3 songs - and once one of their last where they played a very odd mix of obscure album tracks and hip hop/house covers) I'd have liked to have seen The Style Council playing a "normal" set |

Dave Wakeling told me a very funny story about the Red Wedge tour invite that he and Roger got |

This is a more obscure one - Esteban Antonio.
He was an acoustic guitar player based in Cornwall.
Over the last 6 or 7 years i had wanted to go down to the southwest & see him perform, but he died about 12 months ago. Check him out on youtube. Amazing musician. |

I saw him once, think it was Hall for Cornwall or Cornwall Coliseum. He played a 17 string guitar. I’d never, and still haven’t, seen anything like it. |

Wow that's awesome.
Yes.. there is only his website & a few youtube performances that you can hear his music.
(Yes he played really unique guitars with loads of extra strings.) |

"Nirvana
Don't know how I forgot to include in my list.
P"
Not long after he took his life , i saw someone in Camden Town wearing a T shirt with a picture of Cobaiñ with a shotgun in his mouth with the word " Nevermind " underneath
Ive often pondered if this was just crass or very clever ..

"Pantera.
Still love them now, gutted I never got around to seeing them live."
That was my input as well. I never got to see Damageplan either but I seen Down, so that was the closest I came. Everyone was throwing Demo’s and EP’s on stage, I threw a handful of Teabags on stage and Anselmo picked one up lol |

"The Small Faces
The Kinks
The Who
Now that would be quite a festival line up
Quite possibly my dream gig "
Add The Jam (and possibly Secret Affair) to that as warm up and it would be perfection |

Add The Times to that list and you have the perfect line-up |

"Nirvana.
The Doors.
I’ve seen Jim Morrisons burial plot in Paris. It’s amazing how many people visit and also leave Cd’s/Tapes etc for him"
RIP the Lizard King. |

"Inspired by the Best Live Band thread, who did you never get to see?
It doesn’t matter if they broke up before you were born or they died.
I will start with Marvin Gaye, what a voice." lets get it on, lets get it on baby |

The Smiths. I've seen Morrissey on his own but he was just totally self indulgent (shocker eh?). The Smyths do an excellent job as a tribute act though, and I am not a fan of tribute bands at all. |

"The Prodigy, I would have loved it "
I saw them at an intimate venue 10 years ago, Keith kept coming off stage and stalking around the crowd at the front, they were awesome
I wish I'd seen Tom Petty, I'd just started getting into his music a few years ago and then he suddenly died, big shame. |
