Im new to this and was wanting to clarify something, when you meet a man, its only acceptable for him to wear a condom, is this the same when a woman meets another woman?
No one wants a STD, so tell me do women who have just met a new female partner use a barrier when giving oral? |

you could use a female condom but if you got one out it may put people off lol... some people get regular checkups from a nurse at you local gp or a std clinic, never be shy to ask people before meeting them and if in any doubt dont do anything your unsure of x |

i would think its something thats spoken about before a meet
I have to say i have been doing this for 11 years and i have never seen anyone at all use dental dams when doing oral on a woman, man or woman so i dont think its common
if you feel you want to use them then just suggest it while arranging a meet, it is something i would speak about first tho, i wouldnt just turn up and get them out, i think a lot of women would sooner not meet than use them, i know i would, id say no thnaks and look for someone who didnt use them

naughtynmphos ; i understand where your coming from and your point however isn't your health more important than pleasure? oral is just as dangerous at contracting sexually transmitted infections.
Do you suggest i just forget about barriers and get checked regularly?
what if, you give someone oral who has HIV?
I know this is a contraversial suject but you cannot trust another person completely. Who is openly going to admit they have any STD? |

not at all, im not suggesting you do anything you do not want to, if you want to use dental dams thats your choice, all im saying is not everyone does or would use them so i would mention it before the meet
I would get no pleasure at all from licking someone thro a plastic sheet and i very much dount it would feel good for the other person, so me personally i would sooner not do it than do something neither party is really enjoying
But thats just me
Everyone if different, your sexual health is your responsability so only you can decide whats best for you, and regardless of what other people do you must do what feels right for you |

1) If you use toys - don't share them without cleaning them first
2) If you use a double ender - put a different colour condom on each end - and keep to the same end - as in 1)
Above all - enjoy yourself. |

okay... lots of messed up info here... so lets make it a little clearer...
yes you can catch "certain" sti's thru oral... however the risk of catching them thru oral is a lot lot lot lower then thru intercourse...... and even lower than that for the one you mentioned (HIV)
so in the end it is all about managing the risks....
my favourite analogy at the moment is crossing the road... we all have to do it from time to time.... but there is a difference between crossing the road at a zebra crossing... and crossing a 6 lane motorway.....
the only form of safe sex is no sex... and even when condoms/dental dams are used they are still 98% effect "when used perfectly"
so it is a case of managing the risks as you see fit... as against the pleasure/non pleasure you get from using something like that... and only in the end you can decide that |

OP the GUM clinic do not recommend dental damns, if there was a significant risk they would.
As with everything in life there is a statistical risk, whether it is giving unprotected oral or leaving the house. when it comes to ftof oral the risk is so low i have never come across anyone who uses protection. |

Unless you have very poor oral hygine and open sores in your mouth and they have cuts or are on their period you would not catch Hiv from oral sex on a woman.
You may need to think whether swinging other than watching is for you if you are this concerned. |

I only use condoms for penetrative sex... I certainly would not use it for oral on either a man or a woman.. as I would just rather not bother..
In fact I go a step further with my dislike of condoms as to rarely have full sex just because I dont like them.
I would think you would find it very hard to find a meet male or female that would want to perform oral using protection.

The thing is, and im not trying to talk anyone into or out of anything here this is just my opinion, you have as much chance of catching something thro kissing as you have oral sex, only takes someone to have a cold sore on its way, covered up with a bit of make up, so where do you draw the line, no kissing? protected oral? latex gloves for masterbation? only you know whats right for you |

i was actually thinking about this thread, i know sad but it beats housework, and how worrying peoples lack of knowledge is,
When it comes to oral its for more likely for a giver with a cold sore to infect the person they are going down on than anything else... |
