How long honestly does it take to clean your abode?
This includes dusting down the curtains, skirting boards, cleaning the doors, wiping down of all surfaces hoovering and mop etc...
Took me two hours to long today. Need a cleaner |

To do a deep clean I'd say the whole house would take about 7 to 8 hours. If I was cleaning the outside paintwork and windows too add another hour. It's shifting the furniture and moving the books etc that takes the time I find.

To be fair it takes us about a week because we drink too much coffee, go out frequently and basically find it all very boring.
There's a woman near us who polishes her dustbin and garage door which is a whole level of houseproud I'm never going to reach |

I wish you were my parents cleaner. She achieves very little in two hours. |

And I thought I had issues with ocd.
I'm never going to polish the dustbin outside.

She's very houseproud. A neighbour was sorting something out under the bonnet of her car and she was literally wiping everything he touched with a cloth. |

"I knew a woman who got up at 5am each morning to deep clean before she left for work. She used to power wash her patio once a week with bleach...
that's dedication!"
That's not normal - I often thought about asking her over, but I think she would freak out at my dusty door frames! |

No it's probably not. I think sometimes it stems from anxiety and a wish for control. We visited someone who told us she had a new rug and "we try not to walk on it" I was on tenterhooks the whole time in case I accidentally stepped on it. |

Life's, just far too short and we're too busy as it is. So we try and maintain clean, but real fire generates dust so it's wipe down once a week or so and automate the vacuuming with a robot cleaner.
Steam clean floors every couple of weeks, but kitchen is always spotless on doors and surfaces. |

I love the house being spotless but it takes me forever, and I feel like I very rarely reach an actual end point where everything's done at the same time!
A combination of me being being a very inefficient cleaner, easily distracted and having a house constantly full of visitors (including a million kids). It tends to be clean and smell good, but look lived in. |

I can spend a hour and a half in each room easily, going from top to bottom moving everything. Doing the windows etc.
I would have to do that daily to maintain a high standard, then when I've done everywhere start again. Fuck that, life's too short!

5 flagstone floors to mop
5 carpeted rooms to hoover
2 bathrooms to clean
1 kitchen, 1 pantry, 1 outside shower room/utility
porch with cloakroom
Takes me about 6 to 7 hours top to bottom (with fresh linen on the beds) |
