Stand there - Shut up and take your verbal punishment like a wimp !!
and then sneak out the door for a few hours down the pub..
bring her back a bunch of flowers..
And - when she says that youve been to the pub.. you can say i was just getting out of your hair for a bit..
hopefully the flowers or chocolates or even a kebab will do the trick..
